Sno Cap Root Beer
Apparently Wisconsin has more soda companies per capita than any other state in the US. It seems like more often than not what I've been drinking lately has come from the Badger State. I was just informed that was the state's nickname and I am thoroughly intrigued. Can this state get any better? Now I want to try and search some out next time I'm there, and yes I find myself in Wisconsin more often than your average person.
Sno Cap is produced by the Titletown Brewing Co. This may be the first brewery made root beer that I have tried that was sweetened with HFCS. Sure it also has granulated sugar in here, but it's hard to miss the thick syrupiness of HFCS. It's one of those things that you don't even need to check the ingredients to know it's included in the recipe. It is also heavy on the caramel flavoring. All of the usual root beer suspects are there, but the caramel is what is standing out to me. Perhaps badgers love that particular flavor and they use it to appease their furry overlords. Oh, you didn't know that badgers ruled Wisconsin? The rest of the country may be run by lizard people, but they don't call it the Badger State for nothing. This is better than your average root beer, but it doesn't blow my socks off or anything. Perhaps if I was a different species that would be a different story.

Trader Joe's Limeade
Dear Trader Joe,
You don't know me but I've been a shopper at your grocery store for a few years now. I will admit I am not loyal to your establishment, but I do shop there as much as I am able to. I especially enjoy your veggie chips and hummus. It's easily my favorite hummus ever.
I haven't had the best of luck with your beverages in the past. Your so-called "vintage" sodas were quite bad if I may say so. I must say that I was a little skeptical of this limeade when I picked it up. I hate to judge a drink by it's bottle, but this screamed, "watered down artificial flavors" when I saw it. I was pleasantly surprised to find only 4 ingredients in the bottle: water, sugar, limejuice, and lemon juice.
I don't know whom you traded to get this, but you made a good trade. This is easily one of the best limeades I have ever tasted. It's very quenching, but also has a great tartness to it. I wish it was sourer, but that's only because I am still searching for that drink that is so sour that it hurts.
Good job Joe! You're good at trading.
Sincerely,
Derek

Fentimans Shandy
I almost didn't buy this drink because the first ingredient is "beer 70%". I have never drunk a drop of beer in my life. The smell of it disgusts me, plus I don't drink alcoholic beverages. But after consulting with my fellow Thirsty Dudes, I was reassured that this is completely safe to drink since like other Fentiman's drinks it had less than .05% alcohol.
After doing some research, I found out that shandy is traditionally a beer mixed with citrus-flavored soda, carbonated lemonade, ginger beer, ginger ale, or cider. This has lemon juice in it so I'm assuming it's the carbonated lemonade variety, minus the alcohol of course. Upon opening it, it definitely had a beer like smell to it. Not as strong as normal beer though.
The taste? Gross, plain and simple. It's like malted lemonade. I don't understand why anyone would drink this. Hopefully one of my housemates wants the rest of this bottle because I won't be drinking any more of it.
