Jeff's Chocolate Soda
I saw this on the shelf in a random grocery store and I needed to have it. Then I got home and saw that it fairly largely proclaimed to have "Egg Cream." The thought made me want to hurl. Imagine a nice root beer and then someone dumps a bunch of whipped egg in it. That probably sounds like the worst thing ever.
After putting it off for a few days, I decided this was the night. There were a bunch of people hanging out and I could pass it around, so I wouldn't feel like I had to drink the whole thing.
You know what? It's not that bad. It tastes like someone took a sweet flavorless soda and dumped a packet of Swiss Miss hot chocolate mix in it. It has the consistency of chocolate milk, with a nice thick head on it. It's a bit weird, but the more you drink of it, the better it is. It's really only the aftertaste that is weird.
I also just realized it kind of tastes like when I was a kid and I thought I was awesome, so before school I would mix all of the beverages in my fridge and drink it at the bus stop. On the days that there was chocolate milk, and no orange juice, it really wasn't all that bad. It's like the Burger King self serve special. We've all done that.

Blenheim Ginger Ale
Well hello there, friend. Where did that burn come from? I did not expect that. Someone was nice enough to recommend the Blenheim red cap, "hot" ginger ale and when Jay got back from tour, he came back with this one. I knew the name looked familiar when I saw it today in the fridge. This is just the "medium" ginger ale but it's got a serious punch that I am proud to say that I liked through and through. I like ginger ale a lot and this isn't your Pep Pep's ginger ale. It's sweet, but the burn quickly takes over. Don't worry, though. It leaves you with a nice mid-sweet/mid-hot aftertaste.
I can't say enough good things about this drink. Get some and leave some comments about your impressions. I can't wait to get my hands on a red cap.

Wegmans Pineapple Orange Juice
You have to love when your grocery stores private brand is as good, if not better, than it's name brand competitors. Wegmans continuously puts out quality products that I love. This juice is no different. It is a perfect blend of orange and pineapple juices. The pineapple is the stronger of the two flavors, just the way I like it. The orange juice tames the pineapple a bit, so it's not so harsh on your mouth/throat. I once ate so much pineapple that the acidity made my mouth bleed. How does that even happen?

Cawy Red Cola Fruiti Cola
The Cawy sodas have been pretty hit or miss. This one is closer to the center of the board than most, but it doesn't quite hit the bulls-eye.
Fruiti Cola is similar to a cherry cola, but instead of cherry being the added flavor it's more of a fruit punch. It has an aftertaste that, as a friend pointed out, is very reminiscent of cotton candy.
I like the flavor of this, but it's a bit too sweet for me to finish an entire can. I can see this being a favorite for little kids.
I also think this may be what Neil Diamond was singing about in "Porcupine Pie." "Tutti fruit, and fruiti blue cheese." Really what was that man thinking?

Wegmans Water Lime
Like Mike said about the Wegmans Water With Lemon, this tastes like your out at a restaurant and the waiter serves you some water before taking your order. Oops! It looks like the restaurant was out of lemons, so they improvised and gave you a lime in your water instead.
It's nothing fancy, but it's not supposed to be. It's just water with a slight squirt of lime with it. Now stop thinking about your water, and figure out what you're going to order. This is a busy restaurant.

Vignette Wine Country Soda Pinot Noir
I come home from two hours of grocery shopping; a task that I hate, and I want to relax. What do regular people do? Drink a glass of wine. Since neither I, nor do any of the other Thirsty Dudes, drink "real" alcohol. This company makes their pop with wine grapes, but they are not alcoholic. I haven't drunk wine since...1997 so I don't know how it tastes, but I do feel like I know how it smells. This didn't smell very strong, but did have a sweet nose to it. The taste was sharp, small, and flavorful. After getting about a quarter way through the bottle, I started getting a little bit of the wine grapes and actually started feeling like I was doing something wrong. It didn't help that I was drinking it out of a wine glass. I wanted the full effect, you know?
As soon as I took a break for a few minutes and took another sip, it was back to Poptown, USA.
It was pretty good and I think due to its approach at being brewed from wine beginnings, this would probably be marketable towards a lot of different people, my pregnant girlfriend for one. She can't drink so this is a close second.
I liked it and know they have other kinds like blush and Chardonnay that would be interesting to try. Try them out and let us know what you think.

Joe Tea Green Tea
Awhile back, a long time before we started this site, I had the peach Joe's tea. I loved it, and have been keeping an eye out for it since then. I recently found this one at a Whole Foods on a recent tour. While it's not as great as the peach variety, the green tea is pretty good.
It's a pretty mild tea, and the "low sugar" is nice. It's always nice to have a tea that isn't overly sweet, yet not completely bitter. I appreciate the resealable bottle since it is a large quantity of tea.

Pom Wonderful Pomegranate Mango
This is health in a bottle, or so I'd like to believe. This is nothing but pomegranate and mango juice. It's bitter and harsh the way pomegranate juice should be. For those who are unfamiliar, pomegranate tastes like a very intense grape juice. I wish the mango juice were a bit stronger. It's hard when you're dealing with so much pomegranate juice. Let's hope this helps to kick my cold in the butt.

Hubert's Lemonade Mango
Wow when that first sip hits you this is so incredibly sour. It tastes like your drinking the lemon concentrate that comes in those little plastic lemon shaped bottles. With each future sip you become more acclimated with it and it doesn't seem nearly as sour. At first I thought it was too much, and that I wouldn't be able to finish it. After a few more gulps, I was really enjoying it. I super tart lemonade with a nice mango overtone. It's a little harsh, and I couldn't drink it on the regular, but it would be a nice treat from time to time. I wish I had drunk it when it was super hot outside. You know, how lemonade is meant to be enjoyed.
The same company makes this that makes Hansen's sodas. They know how to made a great pop and interesting lemonade. Bravo.

Chadwick Bay Lemonade Original
I wouldn't exactly say, "just how mama made it" as mom probably used real sugar and not a corn based sugar substitute, but the taste is pretty spot on. It's got a good tartness and a good sweetness to it and neither lingers too long in your mouth like an unwanted guest and we all know what that's like.
I saved the other half for just the right occasion, and that might be coming up soon as I am pretty thirsty. You get that way occasionally.

Genesis Boost Inner Boost Noni
Ugh. Look. I just had the gnarliest food poisoning of my life. Worst. It destroyed me. Annihilated, I threw up so hard I fell out of bed. No, I'm not exaggerating. So what do I remember I have in my fridge? This Genesis Inner Boost drink, which is supposed to support detoxification and internal cleansing. What better thing to drink after getting internally crushed by bad seafood? Uh, well, I'll tell you. Anything. I could not like this drink any less. Yes, any less. Took two sips and couldn't touch the stuff. Number 1 ingredient, pear juice, 2; strawberry juice; 3, raspberry juice; 4, grape juice. All good, right? Yeah? Could it be #5, the dreaded Noni berry? I don't know. I'm not a large fan of pears, they are like crappy apples, but this didn't really taste like it. It didn't really taste like anything and smelled even worse.
This drink might be for someone and I'm not looking for something special, too fruity, too dry, too thick, too thin, whatever, I don't care. This seemed borderline undrinkable, like I could give it to 100 people and 100 people would say, "No, not for me." I'm clearly and evidently one in 100.

Abbott Farms Gray Mule Spicy Ginger Ale
Disappointment city. A donkey wearing glasses showing its teeth says, "It kicks!" This should have been the best ginger ale I've ever had. Instead mediocrity reigned supreme. When it was in your mouth it tasted like carbonated candy water. Then when you smiled it burned. I love a good ginger burn, the thing was this was a different type of burn altogether. Upon reading the ingredients I discovered there wasn't any ginger in it at all. I don't even want to know what created the burn. I choked through about a third of the bottle, and then I had to give up. To reiterate: Disappointment city.

Abbott Farms Kangaroo Jack Root Beer
This is my first review of the slew of sodas I got at the Abbott Farms rest stop in South Carolina. I walked in and saw a wall of random bottles of soda, and my day just got brighter.
This root beer is actually made by Abbott Farms. It's a decent run of the mill root beer. It reminds me a lot of Barq's actually. Instead of having "bite" it comes "with a kick." I would have expected that to mean it had caffeine in it, but no.
Sometimes you want a fancy root beer and sometimes you want a "candy" root beer. This is something that can fill your needs in those times.

Pom Tea Pomegranate Peach Passion White Tea
Like most people around Buffalo this time of year, I have come down with a cold. I've been downing an obscene amount of juice, and I thought I'd switch it up a bit and try this Pom tea.
Even though my nose is clogged and my taste buds are suffering, the pomegranate, peach and passion fruit flavors cut right through. The fruit makes it really sweet, but there is also a bitter hint of the white tea mixed in. You can really make out each of the separate fruit flavors in each sip. I really love this, and hopefully all of the antioxidants will help clear the sickness out of my head as well.

Snow Cranberry Pomraz
I had never heard of Snow before until a couple of days ago when in the span of a couple hours I got a bunch of text messages from people asking me if I had tried it yet. I guess it must have just hit the shelves, and my friends are looking out for Thirsty Dudes.
It's really a great soda. It's light, but still flavorful. I did not have high hopes for this. The can looks like something you would find in a Dollar Store. I'm really glad I was proved wrong. Raspberry, cranberry and pomegranate make a good team together. I will definitely be trying the other flavors.
I don't know what snow has to do with this drink, except they donate proceeds to help combat global warming. The name and the can design make it look like it's a season drink. I hope that does not deter sales for them once the warmer weather kicks back in.

Hint Unsweetened Essence Water Pomegranate Tangerine
I like flavored waters. I like them because I like a weak drink. A subtle flavor still keeps the essence of why you're drinking water in the first place alive. I still feel like I'm doing something good for myself while enjoying the natural taste of fruit. No sugar, no funny business.
Firstly, I get more tangerine than pomegranate so it should have been called tangerine pomegranate, not visa versa.
I liked this. It was good to drink with a meal and without since I took a break while drinking this of about 12 hours. It was good the second time around. I don't know if you can get Hint by me, but you can get it at Whole Food as well as a handful of other places. Go to their site and try some of their other stuff out. This one would be a good place to start.

Jones Gaba Grapefruit Tea-Juice
There is really only the faintest of grapefruit flavoring in this tea. It mainly tastes like tea with the GABA in it. The only time I've ever tasted it was in this line of Jones. I'm not really a big fan. This will be the last one of these that I will be reviewing. They all taste similar and not too exciting.

Ito En Teas' Tea Green Jasmine
So I'm back in Buffalo. That means Taco Tuesdays are back on. Okay, we get burritos, but Burrito Tuesdays just doesn't have the same ring. For some reason I love drinking unsweetened tea with burritos. I have no idea why, but I think they really compliment each other.
Last night when we were eating our burritos, I decided that I wanted to feel like I was at a Chinese restaurant while I ate my food, so I grabbed a jasmine green tea. I'm fairly new to the world of jasmine tea. I don't know why I never got it in the past, but I absolutely love it now. It strangely tastes like the clean hippy girls in high school smelled. You know the ones that weren't so dirty that they had to douse themselves in patchouli. After rereading that, it makes this sound disgusting, but I'm sticking with it, because that's what it makes me think of and I still think this tea is delicious.

Kristall Swedish Lingonberry
I found this at Whole Foods. I thought that lingonberry was one of the berries that had been genetically crossed to create the local favorite loganberry. Our friends from Wales told us that there was a carbonated loganberry drink from Sweden. I assumed this was it. I was wrong and after some research I found out that it was a blackberry mixed with a raspberry.
Even though this doesn't have anything to do with the ever elusive loganberry, it was pretty great. I have a great respect for companies who can successfully carbonate juice without it being too sweet or tasting like seltzer water. Kristall got the magic right. It does taste very similar to a very, very light loganberry. I highly suggest trying this is you ever see it.
It's probably just because it says "Swedish" on the bottle, but it reminds me of the taste of Swedish Fish. My girlfriend said I was crazy and she didn't taste it at all. I do love those little candies though. Eat one of those and a Sour Patch Kid at the same time and it's a party in your mouth.

Bolthouse Farms Perfectly Protein Mocha Cappuccino
This was as good as I wanted it to be. It tasted like a Starbucks mocha Frappuccino but with less coffee, which is more desirable to me. This is a large bottle and if I didn't stop myself, I could have easily slammed the entire thing. I liked it a lot and wasn't too worried with the exception that I haven't found a Bolthouse that I like. They're excellent for you but some of them are a bit too much for me. Not complex, just too "let's add this and this and this and this". This was pretty simple and I was pleased to see that it had no additional sugar and was sweetened by the apple juice that is a main ingredient.
I think that this, or any of the other ones, would be great to have any time, but like Jay does, have when you're sick. It's filled with important vitamins and minerals and is sure to make you feel better. They have a straight chocolate one that might be next on my list.
Also, at ~$4 per bottle, it can be a bit steep, but you do get a lot. For those interested in trying it out, they have smaller bottles that are about $2-$3 each which is more approachable. You can also get this at nearly any grocery store.
