Red Rain Mocktail Margarita
Excuse me, waiter? I have a question about the menu. It says here that you serve “Classic Margarita Pizza,” what is that all about? Is it like a pizza that has margarita mix stirred into the sauce? I mean I'm assuming it's not a pizza with a drink poured on it. Oh, it's “margheritra” not “margarita.” So it's just a pizza with sauce, moz cheese and basil? That makes much more sense. The thing is that I now have a hankering for a margarita since we've been talking about it. I understand that we're at an arcade for a children's birthday party, but I've got the itch. Do you have anything that would scratch it? Of a mocktail? That would work.
You know what, this is pretty darn good. It's like a lime soda with a little bit of a twist. I have to be honest here; I have never actually had a margarita, so I don't know what they are supposed to taste like. I always assumed it was something festive and slightly tropical, and that is exactly what is being served to me in this can. It makes me with this party had an island theme so all the kids could have a reason to enjoy this, and I wouldn't look like a total creep trying to get them to drink it. Man, that lime taste is strong, and it's great. Now where's my pizza?

Tim Horton's Latte Dark Chocolate
Two days in a row? Yeah, two lattes in two days. I don't know what I'm doing to myself. Whatever it is, someone hearing me complain about how jittery I am is inevitable. Let's move on to what happened when I ordered this drink.
Since no one knows how to do their job, of course there was an issue with ordering this item which was on their menu with giant banners and small banners and signs. Something about "Everyone who has been ordering the dark chocolate latte has been getting hot chocolate!" or "You're pressing the wrong button on the machine!" or something to that nature. I did get what I ordered and waited very patiently which the "barista" was very appreciative of. Here's what she lovingly put in it. She put in latte at the press of a button. Technology, right? No hand tapping or twisting or turning or any of that nonsense. Then she squeezed in some chocolate whip which they use(d) on their cold hot chocolate which was fantastic. Then it looked like they threw some chocolate chips but they weren't chocolate chips. They were chocolate covered rice balls and were awesome.
How was it? Well I can easily say that I will be buying it through this winter season. It was very good. Darker, more bitter with (c/k)rispies and a nice smoothness. It was exactly what I wanted it to be. Tim Horton would be proud.

McDonalds McCafe Iced Mocha Caramel
I have been trying all day to try to figure out what type of person would eat a Pop tart while drinking this, as I did this morning. I think the answer is someone who hates themselves. Someone who hates their body, has given up counting calories, and forgotten the definition of the word fitness (at least for one meal).
Why would I say that? Pop Tarts are delicious but made for kids even though they're pretty awful for you and I feel guilty giving my kid Pop Tarts but sometimes there is no milk and we're out of alternatives. Append the fact that I'm pretty sure this is coffee that is held together by sugar because it is wildly, immensely, insanely sweet. It tastes more like caramel coffee than caramel mocha but it's not awful. If you can get past the fact that with each sip you have to sacrifice your least favorite toes and fingers, it's not bad. It still tastes like coffee and it's smooth and it tastes like what it's supposed to.

Coca-Cola Life Cola
If I can borrow a line from the TV show "Review," Andrew Daly says, "Life. It's literally all we've got." Is that the case with Coke Life? It could be if you kind of like diet pop. Someone asked me what this was all about and I said, "It's a half diet pop.” It's like someone went halvsies on a Coke and a Diet Coke. That's almost how it tastes. Actually, it tastes more like a Mexican Coke and a Zevia cola were mixed together, since it's sweetened with both cane sugar and stevia.
At first you can get some of the stevia at the tail end of sips but after you start to drink it like it's not the last thing you'll ever drink, you lose some of that and it starts to blend together and taste like a slightly diet cola. At half the calories and half the diet taste, it's not a bad payoff. I have another one in the fridge and I will break it out sooner than later because it was good. We'll see how Pepsi True does whenever we can get our hands on that.

Paoletti Bibita Pompelmo
Is everything nicer and classier in Italy? That was my experience in my brief time there. I have very little interest in coffee, and I extremely enjoyed my cups there. The baked goods were some of the best I've ever had and the people were all wonderful.
The picture on this label makes me wish I was in a little corner diner, or better yet a soda shop in Italy and a nice cold glass of Paoletti was being placed in front of me by a friendly waiter/ress. I would smile and nod politely, because I only know how to say excuse me and thank you in Italian, and as they walked away I would take a nice refreshing sip and all would be right in the world.
This is an exquisite grapefruit soda that borders on being dry. I don't understand how it has a dry flavor when there is 30g of sugar in it, but here we are. I mean it's definitely sweet, but I guess it's just not over the top like most other grapefruit sodas are.
I'm just going to sit in this cafè, slowly sipping on this soda, soaking in the atmosphere until the last drop passes my lips. Then I will get up with a smile, leave my money on the table and go get lost in a city I've never been to before and then none of you will have to read my ramblings anymore because I was too trusting of people and I was brutally murdered.

Soda Boy Caramel Cream
Growing up in the suburbs of Missouri there were two things that Little Jimmy hated more than anything. The first was hearing the different ways that people pronounced his state's name. It was completely infuriating to him that people cared so much to argue about it, especially since they all lived in the same state anyways. The second was that soda pop never really tasted like the flavors they claimed to be. Cherry? Orange? Grape? Those are fruits that have very specific flavors and the sodas that companies like Crush were putting out simply did not resemble those flavors, except in the most rudimentary way.
Once Jimmy was old enough to properly work with lab equipment and kitchen ware he went about creating his own sodas for him to enjoy. His carbonated refreshments were dead on with their flavors. He made sure the cherry tastes like cherry the orange like orange, and of course the grape like grape and not a syrupy mess. Once he had perfected the fruit flavors, he moved on to a bigger fish. The soda shoppe in his town served a caramel cream soda that was just awful. People loved it, but Jimmy had more refined tastes, and it tasted nothing like the caramel candies he would get from the five and dime. It just tasted like overly sweet, overly burnt sugar. A dumb description I know, but Jimmy is in fact a child.
I don't know exactly what Jimmy did to perfect his soda, but he spent weeks locked up in his house working at all hours that his mom didn't make him go to sleep or school. The final result ended up being a soda that did in fact taste exactly like a liquid version of caramel candy. It was creepy how much it tasted like it, with just the smallest cream soda undertone.
Jimmy never really drank more than that one bottle he originally made, because he quickly realized that it's not a flavor that he wanted to have in soda form. He loved the candy and would chew it all the time, but it was just too much as a soda. So he moved onto bigger and better flavors.

Polar Frost Black Raspberry
Black raspberry, the "goth" fruit. Black raspberry, the older, darker brother of raspberry never studies, smokes cigarettes and listens to Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly. He drives an old car that he painted black but the funny thing is that it was already black.
This brooding, trench coat wearing fruit matched with sparkles, a match no one thought that would work out, actually make a pretty nice couple. As long as it's cold, this drink is pretty good and not super diet. “As long as it's cold it's good (like black raspberry knows anything about being warm and comforting). When room temperature o'clock happens, it gets thick but we're not going to go there. When it's in its natural state, cold and filled with hatred for his father for no reason, it's actually nice. It's sharp and fruity and doesn't taste like something your mom would like. You know what I'm talking about.

Zpirit Infuzion Peach & Basil
Is there anything more yuppyish than a juice bar? I'm sure there is (perhaps a wine bar) but it's pretty high on the list. The thing is that I love them. They are like a dream to me. I don't venture into one very often, but that is solely due to the cost, and I'm poor. Juice bars may be the only yuppie thing that I actually enjoy, but oh how I enjoy it.
At the juice bar that I occasionally visit along with their dizzying array of press made juices they also have a giant dispenser of water that is infused with a variety of things. Sometimes it's fruit and sometimes it's spices. My favorite times are when they have water infused with basil to sip on as you wait for your juice to be made. That's right, basil isn't just for Italian cooking anymore, and when you let it soak in water the water tastes incredible. It's not something you would chug on, but it's one fine sipping beverage.
When I saw this on a recent trip to Toronto I absolutely needed it. I forwent food and spent what was left of my Canadian money on this drink, and I made a wise decision. This is fantastic. It's simply water that had peaches and basil soaking in it (there are actually some peach chunks floating in the bottle). There is also some sweetener added to it, which I don't think is necessary, but humans like their sweetness. The cane sugar isn't so much of a problem as the stevia is. When you infuse water the flavor is generally pretty light, whereas stevia is a fairly strong flavor. In here it's pretty much kept in check, but it still distracts from the natural flavor of the peach and basil. My advice is ditch the sweetener and let the actual flavors work their magic. I'm excited to try the other flavors on future trips up north.

Little Miracles Organic Energy Black Tea Ginseng Peach Acai Agave
I don't know why this was marked down. I'm speaking out of order. This was marked down. Now we're on track. I don't know why this was marked down. It's very good. It's smooth, flavorful, good calorie count and natural. It tastes like peach black tea. You don't have a strong ginseng taste but you can tell that is there with a little bitterness. A kind reminder that Little Miracles is concerned about your mental capacity. They want you to pass that test. They want you to do well in your interview for that new job. They want you to reach your best time in that blindfolded Rubik's Cube competition. 'Tis a fine tea and I would drink it again if given the opportunity but since it's in the markdown endcap, I fear that I won't have the change. I hope all is well, Little Miracles. Maybe a new line is in the pipeline. Let's wait and find out.

Purity Organic Raspberry Black Tea
Raspberry tea, who doesn't like it? Oh, adults who think that it is too sweet? Yeah I can see that. It used to be a standard for me, but the older I get the less I drink of it. Actually my intake of sweetened tea is fairly low these days, while the amount of unsweetened tea is through the metaphorical roof. The thing is that you can't quite get a proper raspberry flavor without the sweetness. This product falls somewhere in the middle. It's nowhere near as sweet as say and Arizona or Peace raspberry tea, but it's definitely got some sugar in it to keep the flavor up; 19g per serving to be exact. Sure they could have gone even lower, but the taste of the raspberry probably would have suffered.
I like that this still has a good deal of the “dryness” you get from unsweetened teas, but it also has a nice raspberry flavor. It helps that they used real juice in the flavoring process.
Is this perfect? No. Is it still great? Yes. This may still be too sweet for those of you in middle age and above, but I bet it would sit just perfectly on the palate of someone in their late 20s. Am I really at a point in my thoughts where I need to rank teas by the age of their consumer? No, not yet, but close.

Dunkin' Donuts Iced Latte Snickerdoodle
Was there anything more disappointing that when you were in home economics in high school and they told you that you were going to make snickerdoodles only to find out that there is nothing similar between Snickers candy bar and snickerdoodle cookies? What a complete bummer. To this date, I still get mad when I eat snickerdoodles. It's not that they're bad but they're no Snickers. I'll make you a Snicker cookie that would blow the lid off any of your dumb grandma's prized, award winning snickerdoodle cookies. Oh, I know they won the blue ribbon in Tennessee in 1953 against Mabel Johnson's apple pie but who gives a rip. Snickerdoodles will always be second to something with chocolate, caramel and nuts.
This, as disappointing as it may be, isn't bad. It's coffee and snickerdoodle. It would be like if you had a coffee and dipped a snickerdoodle in it and it broke off and you just went with the flow and let it marinate. It's sweet but cookies are sweet so if you didn't see that coming, you truly don't know what you're eating and have no imagination.
Also, if there was a fight, my maternal grandma would crush your grandma in a cook off. My paternal grandma would lose every time. No, not because she's dead but because she was a pretty terrible cook. She was a wonderful woman who lived through the Holocaust. It didn't enhance her cooking skills but what each of my grandmas was doing in their twenties was polarizingly different.

Tymbark Orange Peach Drink
It's not often that we come across beverages from Poland. So far it's been a handful of juices and one energy drink, which I bought in Germany. I have Polish heritage, so I would like to taste some more drinks that they produce. That might be as far as my interest in my heritage goes. I just want interesting beverages.
This comes in a misleading bottle. I have found that when something comes in a bottle this shape it is a carbonated soda, but this lacks any sort of bubbles. True to its name it tastes like someone mixed peach and orange juice and added a bunch of sugar making it fairly syrupy. It has a decent enough flavor to it, but because of the bottle my mind keeps thinking that it is flat soda, which removes some of my enjoyment. It's an okay juice drink, but if Tymbark were to simply add some carbonation I think it could have been an exceptional soda, but hey, that's not what they were going for. The world doesn't revolve around my whim.

Polar Seltzer Ginger Apple
At children's parties, Natalie is typically offered a very limited selection of drinks including juice boxes, wine and beer. She did not want any of these things. She wanted something different and not just different from those options, something different than she was used to. She gave the birthday girl her gift and went into the kitchen to see what she was going to be stuck with and she found it. She noticed a peculiar label on the counter and approached it only to see that it was something she hadn't seen before. It was ginger apple flavored seltzer water. She promptly poured herself a glass and took a sip.
She liked it because it tasted a little like a carbonated apple juice mixed with some of the flavors of ginger. There wasn't any of the burn from a ginger beer or some ginger ales but the flavor of a ginger ale was there. She asked whomever brought it and they said that it was a seasonal flavor that wasn't going to be around forever. She liked it so much that she went on the way home from the party to buy more bottles for herself.

Polar Sparkling Frost Lemonade
Guys, I finally cracked the secret. The reason all of these zero calorie, flavored, sparkling waters are all named after things ice related is that they taste their best just above the freezing point. You see when they are that cold the taste of the (normally) artificial sweetener is harder to detect. That's nice because colder drinks are generally more refreshing. The downside of that is that you have to either drink them really fast, water them down with ice, or be a big shot and use whiskey stones. The issue with the latter two solutions are the drinking hole of the bottle (the mouth, I know) isn't big enough for either to fit in, and I like drinking out of bottles, more than glasses. I'm a savage.
This drink tastes like a cleaner, and I somehow mean that in a good way. It doesn't so much taste like chemicals, because it doesn't at all, it more smells like lemon pledge. I know lemon pledge smells like lemons, but it also has a little something else in the odor, and it's perfectly captured in the taste of this beverage. I like the way it tasted, well that is until it started to warm up and the sucralose became more apparent.
Polar has taken this line a bit further than its competition by adding vitamins, antioxidants and caffeine, which they felt the need to list in all caps. Keep in mind the vitamins are at low levels (10% of your daily intake at most), but at least you're getting a little something extra for your time. Now chug folks, you don't want this warming up on you.

X Mode Energy Shots on Tap Cherry
Look at what we have here; a bag inside of a box that is full of energy shots. This is either a great or absolutely horrible idea, depending on how you look at it. Actually it just depends on if you have one thing: Self Control.
The real benefit of this is the ridiculously low cost for an energy drink that actually works. If you purchase the larger box the shots end up costing about $.40 each, as opposed to the $3 they would cost if you bought them individually at a store. It also tastes better than most energy shots I've tasted. It's heavy cherry flavor, which falls on the more medicinal side of cherry, is better than the poison taste that most energy shots have. It's also a shot so you slug that thing down and the flavor is gone. It's not something you're meant to swish around your mouth and ponder.
The downfall of this could also be the price/quantity. The sad fact is that most of the people I know who drink energy drinks on any sort of regular basis tend to overdo it with them. I know people who drink 5-6 Red Bulls a day. That is completely obscene and can be in no way healthy. I can imagine those same people filling up a 12oz mug of X Mode and just downing it. That's 12x the recommended serving amount. I know the box says to not drink more than 3oz a day, but you know that is not going to stop the people who want it. That's not a fault in the company; it's a fault in people's chemistry and personality.
If you are the type of person who drinks energy drinks sparingly, or would just like to take a 1oz shot in the morning instead of your normal coffee, this is probably an ideal product for you. If you have an addictive personality, you'll more than likely want to stay away.

Skinny Girl Sparklers Tangerine Mango
Let me start off by saying that I hate the name of this company/line. I'm not a fan when any product (with the exception of feminine care products) is marketed towards one gender. I know just as many males who are concerned about their weight as females. Also, the whole “skinny” thing is a bit demeaning. Skinny people are fine, but so are bigger people, as long as they are happy and healthy. Perhaps someone with a bit more weight on them isn't trying to lose weight, but just likes the tastes of these drinks; does their comfort in their weight keep them from enjoying this?
I'm fairly certain that Arizona (this product's parent company) didn't mean anything by what they did. It's a diet drink and for most people diet means skinny. It's one of those situations in which someone can be offense without knowing/meaning it. Since I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, I will say some nice things about this.
First off, this bottle feels great. It feels like the plastic version of matte paper. It's not glossy and smooth. It has a slight texture to it that just feels great when I hold it. If you see this in a store, just pick it up. I don't know why more companies don't go for this kind of label.
Secondly, and more importantly, this is the best tasting sparkling water I have ever tried. Even though there is sucralose in here it doesn't have that overly diet gross flavor that normally accompanies such a sweetener. It could be because there is also cane sugar in the mix, but more than likely it's because fruit juice was used in here and not garbage artificial flavoring. It really tastes like a light version of mango and orange. I feel like in most of these styles of beverages the flavor is more of an afterthought and it takes a back seat to the taste of the zero calorie sweeteners. Skinny Girl (ugh) made flavor their priority. As a result this isn't a zero calorie drink, but they did get it down to 10 per bottle and only 2g of sugar. Those are quantities I can deal with if it means a better flavor.

Bai 5 Bubbles Jamaica Blood Orange
It looks like the storm is clearing up. I mean there's still some ominous clouds in the sky, but at least it's stopped raining and if you look to the west you can see the sun peeking out a bit. Bai, that is exactly how I feel about this drink. After the less than stellar coconut and guava version of this I feel like you're finally getting some things right. This is a diet sparkling blood orange drink in which the diet taste isn't punishing your taste buds. The blood orange flavor comes first and it tastes great. It's a hard flavor to mess up, but then again so is guava and look where that got us. The taste of the erythritol/stevia is still there in the aftertaste, but it's fairly subdued. The orange flavor is breaking through those dumb sweetener clouds. I'm glad this is good because up until this carbonated line came around I was really into this companies work.

Sprizz-O Juice & Seltzer Water Cranberry
I missed this review by two days. Two days ago was "Eat a Cranberry Day." Not exactly the most "high holiday" of holidays but it's something. If you have to have a special day, you sign a couple papers and you make it official. You walk door to door with your little clipboard and have people sign it commemorating November 23rd as "Eat a Cranberry Day." Why wouldn't you sign it? It's not religious. It has nothing to do with race. It's not sad. You don't have to buy a card. Why not just sign it?
It's probably just "Eat a Cranberry Day" and not "Eat Cranberries Day" because cranberries are pretty gnarly fruits in themselves. They are bitter and you have to add a bit of sugar to make it taste "good." This drink went right in the middle. What they didn't add in sugar they filled in with bubbles. It's a little bitter and actually tastes pretty close to what a raw cranberry tastes like. It's lightly sweetened and lightly fizzy and it's probably not a drink for kids. I don't know anything about alcohol but I feel like this would be good as a mixer.
Happy belated Eat a Cranberry Day to you all. Maybe next year we won't overlook it like we always do to Physicians Assistant Day or National Cheeseburger Day.

Spiffy Cola
It's been many a moon since I've had a good cola. Can I say any different today? Eh. This tastes like a good corn syrup Coke but not as good as a cane sugar Coke. How? There is a strange fruitiness to the cola that I am not particularly fond of. The cola taste is fine but the aftertaste of whatever is in there is a bit bitter and thereby distracting to the actual taste of the cola. Since I have to judge based on the whole of the flavor, this might just be "another cola." It's a bummer because I wanted this to be a nice, dark cola. Instead, it's just kind of there in the median; another purgatory pop for you.

High Brew Cold Brew Coffee Salted Caramel
My ladyfriend, who is a coffee snob, and a great hater of all things that contain zero calorie sweeteners said, “That's not bad at all.” That is some serious high praise from someone such as her. Me, I'm not so impressed. I can't help but concentrate on the taste of the stevia, and the weird aftertaste it leaves. The coffee taste itself is more than decent, but honestly the caramel flavor gets lost in the stevia for me. I know it's there with its little scuba gear on just swimming around in a pool of sweetener. It wants to come out. It wants to shine. Why won't you let it stevia?
