Mike loves new drinks. He's drank some gross stuff in his day, and this blog is making him drink even more against his will. That being said, he wouldn't trade it in for the world. He loves new beverages and is always, and always will be, on a quest for something new.
Gus (Grown Up Soda) Dry Cola
Remember when you were a kid or a stupid adult and you used to put your mouth over a fresh two-liter bottle of pop and just inhale? That was stupid, but do you remember the taste? It was like a dry cola air. Like a cola flavored, breath subtracting air. This "dry cola" tastes like that and nothing else. Nothing. I don't know who is complaining about too much cola taste but I do understand the too much sugar, which this drink takes care of.
If you are 84 and hate a rich cola taste and an adequate amount of sugar, this is for you.

Fuze Black and Green Tea
How do I describe you, Fuze Black and Green Tea with Acai Berry and "these" essential vitamins? Floral? Clearly, the first thing you taste is the Acai, which has a fruity, almost flower spell and taste to it. It's not bad as much as it is...confusing.
As the days progress and I spend more time looking at beverages, the FDA is really insistent that we cram as much Acai down our gullets. Acai is two years ago's pomegranate. Remember when they couldn't leave that poor dude alone and it was in everything? Have you ever had a real pomegranate? They're wonderful. Wait, we were talking about Acai. Let's get back to work.
Do I like this...I still don't know. I personally don't care when vitamins are in my drinks. Sure, thanks, but I don't eat like an idiot so I get vitamins in my meals so I don't need people filling my otherwise healthy tea with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and experimental fruit.
Sidetracked again? What's wrong with me? Am I chronically unsatisfiable? Possibly/probably. I was stricken on day one with an analytical and skeptical mindset so I always think that things can be done better/faster/more efficient so when someone comes in and starts dumping some new foreign fruit unbeknownst to me down my throat by the 18.5 fluid ounces load, I can question it, can't it? 3. There. You want my review? Here it is:
It's a fruity, floral tasting drink with a sweet, bitter green tea aftertaste.

Boylan's Cane Cola
This cola isn't really different than any other cola. Does that make it good? Possibly. I guess if you have a good thing, stick with it. For a company that has been around for over 100 years, I would say Boylans is a staple in the cola game. I might be disappointed if it did taste strange or different unless that's what they were known for.
"Strange tastes for over 100 years"
Who wants that tag line? How about something like:
"The taste you know and love, unchanged for over 100 years."
Probably better, right? This makes it hard to rate because although it's nothing different or special, it is the gold standard of cola tastes. I would go as far as saying that due to the age of this company, this would be the model of cola. Does that make it a 5? It certainly doesn't make it a 1. Is a 3 too harsh? I don't think they want me to expect anything more since it's such a classic.
I'm rating it a 4 because I give them full credit for keeping with what they believe in with the cane sugar and making a high quality cola. Glass bottles and a pry-off cap also a +1, even if I rarely have a bottle opener on me. It's classic. You could share this with your dad and grandpappy and they would say the same thing. That speaks to me, the consistency.

Aloevine Grape
Look, I'm a fan of aloe vera drinks. I was a fan of Orbitz when that came out and this is like a more socially acceptable, adult Orbitz. This is one of the most sweet aloe drinks I've ever had, but I'm actually excited that it comes in a small container because prior to this, I've only seen them in giant 40+ ounce containers. That's fine, but it takes me days to drink, which is also fine. Typically, this stuff is cheap, too, like ~$1.50 for the small ones, and ~$3 - $4 for the "honkin'" ones.
Is grape good? Yeah, it's alright. It's, as stated, mondo sweet and very close to a concord grape. You can even think that the aloe chunks are actual bits of grape, but they're not.
All in all, try it. Kids might think it's cool because it's got "stuff" in it. Aloe is good for the skin so it's that whole "don't tell kids that it's good for them or they won't eat/drink it" garbage the media is pushing on us, which I could not disagree with more.

College Club Cola
This is a delicious, inexpensive, historic treat. Firstly, remember when we were kids and we used to drink out of reused bottles? No, not recycled, reused.
This pop is in those bottles and, in my opinion, flavored with real sugar.
It's a quick, sweet cola taste that is short lasting and is a bit reminiscent of Coke.
Love it, buy it, and bring the bottle back.

Dr. Pepper Throwback
I like Dr. Pepper. It's one of the only "standard" pops that I drink. I like the flavor.
For that reason, I liked this throwback version. It didn't have any real different taste, perhaps just a little bit sweeter. It seemed to have a different bite to it. It no longer had the thickness and lastingness of corn syrup and had a more instant and quick taste.
Please, just keep using real sugar and retire your old ways.

Fuze Healthy Infusions Green Tea with Ginseng and Honey
I like most Fuze tea. When I heard that Subway was getting it, it got excited and started eating way too much Subway.
This tea is nice. It has the initial bitterness of the ginseng but the genuine aftertaste of honey.
You can get this stuff everywhere and anywhere and for under $1.50 so give it a while and let me know what you think.

Stewart's Fountain Classics Cherries 'n Cream
A 2? Yeah, I'll explain. It's not bad for about 4oz. It's terribly sweet and a little creamy. I wanted it to be like a cherry ice cream but drinkable and it was, as I said, for a limited time.
I don't know what else to say. Split it with friends and don't get upset that you still dump half of it out.

Jelly Belly Gourmet Soda Lemon Drop
I thought that this was going to taste like carbonated lemonade. It did not. Was I disappointed? Boy please. It was better than that. It tasted like carbonated Lemonheads. Can you take a second to contemplate how awesome that is? Imagine 6 year old you and how psyched you would be if this was out then. Give a sip of this to your little brother and watch them as they scream with pleasure.

Switch Watermelon Strawberry
This is downright delicious. This is my first drink from Switch and what an awesome first impression. I don't know how they do it. No sugar added and it's fruity sweet. I think you can find this stuff anywhere and it's around $1 a can. Sure they're small cans at only 8.3oz but sometimes a standard can of pop is too much.
Please buy a can of this and comment on this review to let me know what you think.

Chadwick Bay Enhanced Green Tea with Ginseng and Honey
Finally. We found a delicious green tea. I can taste everything in this drink down to the real honey and that peculiar green tea and ginseng combo. It doesn't taste fake. It has a nice, sincere bitterness. This is my first Chadwick Bay beverage and I am excited to try more.
Best of all, for me anyway, is that it's a local company. It fills me with a sense of pride for supporting a local business that doesn't suck. It doesn't taste or look small time and for that I give you kudos.

Hansen's Smoothie Pineapple Coconut
Hey. You know when you throw up and then try to cover up the taste with old popcorn? You do? Then number 1; I'm sorry. Number 2; you don't need to drink this.
For a company that has the best pop I've ever drunk, this stuff belongs in the filth can.
Here's how it went down...
I drank it and liked it while it was in my mouth. As soon as I swallowed it, I got a strange barf taste and I thought it might be the metal from the can so I poured it into a glass. I took another drink and it was worse. Afterwards I felt sick because you always are reminded of throwing up when your mouth tastes like, or recently tasted like, up-chuck.
I made this site with my bare hands and I wish I had created a 0 rating because this would get it.
Hansen's, I am happy that I reviewed this drink before your Cherry Vanilla Creme pop because you can only go up from here.

Inko's White Tea Honeysuckle
What a nice drink. It's got a great, light, floral scent and taste to it. I drank it luke warm and it was very good. It might be better than drinking it cold as it's an unsweetened tea. It has a sweet, flowery taste, but not so much that it is as if you are drinking potpourri, which is fantastic.

Sweet Leaf Lemon Iced Tea
Finally, a lemon flavored iced tea that doesn't taste like floor cleaner. I don't know why it's so hard. Lemon goes a long way. You know when you have a glass of water at a restaurant and they give you the smallest slice of lemon? You take that little guy, squeeze the heck out of it and what do you get? Gross, overly lemon'd water, case and point.
What we have here is this marvelous can is clearly black tea with lemon. What more do you need? You can taste the tea, which is important to me because I would otherwise be drinking lemon juice, which I don't think is really for public consumption.
Once again, please, for less than $1, you can get a can of Sweet Leaf's awesome array of teas. I didn't know about it until my roommate let me have one that he bought less than a year ago and I have loved it ever since. This tea is exceptional.

North American Beverage Chocolate Moose Chocolate Mousse
Who doesn't love chocolate milk? Not me. Love the stuff. It's downright awful for you, but seriously you're drinking chocolate. What do you expect?
This stuff tastes like pudding skins, which is ultra awesome. I love me some chocolate mousse, and I might be lucky if I get it more than once a year. This drink will not supplement my desire for said treat, but you know what? This isn't just chocolate milk. It's not the delicious, processed, smooth Nesquik or whatever you're used to drinking. This is different. It's probably the Dutch cocoa they use to make it.
I would say if you're not vegan, and you see this, get it and leave a comment, please. I'm interested in what others think of this stuff. I got it at my local Big Lots, which, if it is not nationwide, is a discount everything store, kind of in the same vein as Aldi's if you have that, although I don't think they carry this.

Sweet Leaf Raspberry Iced Tea
This tea has a good, natural taste. Problem with a lot of companies is that they think that if it's flavored, they have to make it prominent, but Sweet Leaf gets it. They have a good tea taste with a subtle amount of sweetness and raspberry. It's good and the entire can may be drank in one sitting all the while you not having to worry if you have dental insurance.
If purchased at the right place, you can find this entire line for under a dollar, which is a steal for all organic iced tea. Anyone who drinks as much as we do here probably understands that.

Metromint Spearmint
The spearmint, so far, has been my least favorite flavor by Metromint by far. Simply put, it tastes like when you are chewing spearmint gum and drinking water at the same time. Sure it's a crisp taste, but I feel that the flavor of spearmint is so unique to gum that it's hard to think otherwise.

Metromint Peppermint
The first time I bought this I went in headfirst and bought a 4-pack. I lucked out because it was actually pretty refreshing. It is just peppermint and water so it didn't leave much to imagination but it was a nice, cool flavor that left a clean aftertaste. I feel like this is something that you could even water down to be more of a hint of peppermint.
It would be nice if they made it in a larger container so you could share it with others now that I think about it. For the first time I think that personal bottles are greedy.

Mayer Bros. Pomegranate Lemonade
Hmm. Tart. Super tart. It's as if they accidentally labeled it pomegranate and it was really grapefruit. That's what the bite was like. Like sinking your teeth into a grapefruit. I honestly got no pomegranate flavor.
Kudos to the local Mayer Bros. for using real cane sugar, but the taste is simply off. See you in the fall for cider, though.

Xing Tea Sweet Tea
Mike reviewed this drink three and a half years ago, and just wasn't into it. As you can see below, it just didn't deliver what he wanted from a sweet tea. Cut to now, the company contacted us and said that from what he wrote, they thought something was wrong with his can, as in a bad batch or something. They ended up sending us a couple cans to try again, and I have to say they were absolutely right.
I will now address Mike's issues:
1) There is a difference between sweet tea and sweetened tea.
I can most definitely taste the sweet tea aspect of this. You can absolutely taste the cane sugar, and it's one of the driving tastes in this beverage. That is what makes a sweet tea to me.
2) He couldn't taste any actual tea, and it tasted fake.
There is both black and green tea in this, which I admit is odd in a sweet tea, and purists would scoff at it and claim it wasn't real sweet tea. Those people are snobs. I can definitely taste both type of tea very distinctively. It gives a new twist to an old standard. I am personally a fan, and during a sweltering summer I would drink this all of the live long day.
Sorry you got a bunk can Mike, because this is great and more than lives up to my Xing expectations.
**********************************************************************************
Mike's Old Review:
The more I am drinking Xing Tea the more I am getting disappointed. This sweet tea is, technically, sweetened tea, but there is a significant difference between "sweet tea" and sweetened tea. Also I taste no actual tea in this drink and something about it seems fake. I don't think I need to say anymore.
