Alpha Wolf Focus & Revitalizing Beverage Watermelon/Strawberry/Coconut
Back in the late 90s when Sobe came out I was in love with them. Even though almost all of the little money I made from my job went to buying records, I still found a way to get a bottle somewhat regularly. Okay, so I may have nicked a bottle or two (or 50) from my place of employment. When you're paying your employees $4.35 an hour you should probably expect them to fill in the wage gap somehow. The point of me mentioning this is that the beverage I am currently drinking reminds me of a classic Sobe from a glass bottle, before they went plastic and the recipe changed (at least I'm pretty sure it did, maybe it was just my tastes that changed). I suppose there is a reason for that because I believe those old drinks were also marketed for focus, revitalization and the like.
Specifically this brings to mind the Dragon flavor of Sobe. I believe that involved pitaya, but this combo of watermelon and strawberry tastes like my memory. It even does a great job of masking the taste of the erythritol/stevia. This tastes fruity and wonderful, and not diet and poisonous. The coconut is undetectable to me. This is an advancement of sports/recovery drinks. Goodbye garbage. Hello wonderment.

NOCCO BCAA Sitronu/Lime
I flew to Iceland out of Toronto at 7 pm landed at around 5am. I have a problem where I just can't sleep on planes, but I pushed through the day because we had a lot planned. Once grocery stores opened up we went to grab some food. I knew there was no way I was going to make it until nighttime without help, so I grabbed this local energy drink. I mean I had a full day of hot springs, waterfalls and offroading ahead of me and I didn't want to miss a moment of it.
Man o man did I choose poorly. The idea of a lime energy drink was enticing, but this ended up tasting like carbonated diet Gatorade. I don't think any human would find that thought appealing. It took me about an hour and a half to power through it, but I did it, and I made it though and probably crammed more into one day of my trip than most people do in three. Yes, I later learned that it wasn't strictly an energy drink and was more of a sports drink, but that didn't help the flavor. Such is my weird dumb life.

Up Mountain Swizzle Original
I can't decide if I think that this drink is good for me or trying to punish me. I have drunk Ginger drinks and I have drunk vinegar drinks and this is a marriage between the two. It is not gross but I feel like you have to be an adult to understand what is going on within the confines of this glass bottle. If you take a big enough sip it is very strong, not very sweet and potentially life-saving. I say that because anytime I am drinking a vinegar drink I feel like I am trying to purge whatever disgusting nonsense is in my body. That nonsense of course being my fault to begin with and I ignorantly think that these vinegar drinks are a reset button on the mistakes that I have made in my dining past.
If I have to think of this as a health drink I might think that it is on the better side. It is a little bit sweet and is not as punishing as a straight vinegar drink. If I have to think of this as a casual Tuesday night drink then it probably isn't going to be something I am going to be seeking out. As I previously said it is only slightly punishing and if you are a fan of ginger beer you might be able to make the leap to something like a vinegar drink. It also helps that there is actual ginger root in this drink. As far as it being sparkling, it is only slightly carbonated. It is well shy of a soda pop.
I feel like on a better day I could finish the whole bottle, but on a day where I have kids screaming at me and 15 minutes to dress up for a show and load a car full of gear I don't think that I could be bothered to finish this entire bottle. I really don't want that to diminish the quality of the drink but the amount of effort I find that it is taking me to drink it is not worth it right now. If you have time to sit and sip this it would probably be very good. I am taking big gulps like an absolute idiot in hopes that I can gain as much of its healing qualities as one can when he makes as many poor decisions as I do.

Alpha Wolf Focus & Revitalizing Beverage Passion Fruit / Pineapple
I know it is summer, but this recent heat humidity combo has been too much. Maybe I'm just getting old, or perhaps it's because I spend my time standing next to a 1,000 degree dryer printing shirts all day. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's the latter. I feel like I'm sweating out more than I can imbibe. All of the water in the world's oceans doesn't feel like it would make a difference. You know if it were desalinated. I'm drinking gallons upon gallons of water every day and it's not enough. Then I drank this bottle of Alpha Wolf and for a brief moment I felt a difference. I felt the will to live return to me. I no longer wanted to lay down on that conveyor belt into the dryer and let the heat finally take me. This is certainly not a cure all. Nor is it some magic potion. It is simply formulated to give you temporary relief when you feel beaten down and dehydrated. In reality the effects didn't last all that long, but for a half hour or so I did feel revitalized as the bottle boasts. Can I really ask for more?
As it turns out, I can in fact ask for more. This could have tasted like old hose water and if it had these results I would have been happy with it, but as it turns out it is quite delicious. It's no secret that most fruit flavored drinks taste little to nothing like the produce they are impersonating. This tastes very much like passion fruit, with a little bit of pineapple thrown in for good measure. Unfortunately erythritol and stevia are in the mix as well. That is fine for some and a complete deal breaker for others. It's very specific taste that shows itself more as the drink warms up. Ice cold it is hardly noticeable. When paired with the passion fruit it didn't bother me nearly as much as it has in other beverages. I guess it's all a part of keep calories low and not poisoning yourself in the process.

Kra Sports Drink Berry
You will not believe the amounts of sports I have just done. I hit all the field goals, shot all the home runs, kicked all the goals, and slammed all the points. I did it all, and boy am I dehydrated now. It's lucky for me I have this bottle of Kra to get me back to normal. It's a slightly salty (in the best way) sports drink with actual juice in it. This is the third flavor of Kra I've tried and I have been on board with all of them. They are tasty and hydrate me when I need them to. You know, like right now after all those sports I just did. I'm exhausted and dripping with sweat. I could literally wring my shirt out and get a substantial amount of fluid from it. This drink that tastes like a salty blueberry apple juice that is slightly watered down with fill me with hydration the way normal sports drinks never could. When that happens I will be ready for more sports! Huh? What do you mean I haven't been playing sports? I mean I'm soaked and tired. Oh, I've just been printing shirts in my basement all day in the extreme heat and humidity, standing next to a 1,100 degree dryer and I'm now delirious? Well, Kra helps with that too then!

Alpha Wolf Focus & Revitalizing Beverage Goji / Pomegranate / Mango
One of the simple pleasures in life is when you come home and there is a package waiting for you that you were not expecting. There is the rush of excitement when walk up to the package wondering what it could possibly contain. It's even nicer when you look at the return label and discover that it is not junk, but something you could truly enjoy. I came home to this, opened the box and then less than 15 minutes later I got an email from Alpha Wolf telling me that they forgot to give me a heads up that a package was coming. I appreciate their oversite because it perked up my day a bit.
I wish it wasn't my job to pay close attention to beverages. I put these in the fridge to get cold, and when I finally cracked one open it was wonderful. It tasted fruity and real. There were some other flavors in there as well, but it was all pleasant and it seemed to all make sense. I have never had mango mixed with an antioxidant rich fruit before and now I don't know how no one ever paired them up before. They complement each other perfectly. After a few wonderful sips in when the troubles began. I looked at the ingredients list. Right there in the #2 position was erythritol. Up until that point I had no inkling at all that any zero calorie sweeteners were being used in here at all. After reading that I took another sip and it was painfully obvious. I'm taking full blame on this one. It's not on Alpha Wolf. If they can make a product that uses erythritol and stevia and not have me notice it instantly they have created something great. I'm chalking it up to my brain searching out the flavor once I knew it was in there. This is a wonderfully fruity beverage that will do it's best to help you achieve some clarity in this horrible world in which we live.

Kra Sports Drink Lemon
Why is it that a combination of salt and lime sounds enticing (and Mexican, but switch out that citrus fruit for another and it sounds off? The thought of it certainly had me putting off drinking this. I knew it wouldn't be horrible, but it just didn't sound like something I wanted. When I finally got around to it I was pleasantly surprised. Sure it doesn't make me think of the millions of tacos I would like to consume, but who is eating tacos while playing sports? Geniuses maybe?
The salt in here is noticeable, but Kra did not go overboard with it. It really just tastes like a more natural lemon sports drink. You score all the points, you make all the goals and then you rehydrate with one of these. You won't be sorry. It's a better version of what you are used to, and what more could you ask for?
Now I'm going to go run a marathon and down a taco at every quarter mile.

Kra Sports Drink Fruit Punch
In a recent review I spoke of how no sports drink company will be able to overthrow the dynasty of Gatorade. It has become to ingrained in our culture that it's essentially on the same level as Jello, Xerox , or Kleenex. Many have tried to replace it and all have failed. If there were a movie made about the fall of big Gatorade Kra would be our star. Rising from humble beginnings and fighting against all odds to take down the behemoth.
Sadly, at this point this is only fiction, but I feel a change is going to come. My faith comes from the thought that started this product to begin with; “Why do athletes, who are so committed to taking care of their bodies, hydrate with super-sugary, chemical-filled sports drinks?” The truth is that there aren't many readily available options and young athletes are taught to bow down before the G at such an early age that they rarely question it. Kra created an alternative. It is a sports drink made from water, juice, minimal (real) sugar, and sea salt. There is nothing artificial in here, which means there is nothing to feel bad about ingesting. It tastes like a slightly salty juice and that salt goes a long way to not only replenish your body, but to also make the flavor a bit more interesting. It in no way tastes like a ton of salt was dumped in here, it's just around the edges, but it sticks to your lips a little making it intriguing.
This is like a Juicy Juice for adult athletes (sure kids can drink it too). It does it's intended job and does it while tasting great and not being syrupy. Soon people will chant “The king is dead. Long live the king.”

Nth Degree Enhanced Sports Drink Raspberry
You're probably thinking the same thing as I am, “Why would someone create a new sports drink when there are so many on the market that no one seems to drink?” This is true. For decades Gatorade has had the market on lockdown. Sure Powerade tried to step up, but it always seemed like a lesser version of the original(?). In recent years Body Armor has been making a big push to steal the crown, but I'm not sure how far they have gotten. I mean you don't see a cooler of Body Armor getting dumped on the coach when a professional team wins. I'm not trying to talk down on these companies, well maybe Powerade, but it seems like people like to stick with what they know, and in this niche market they certainly know Gatorade.
The thing that makes Nth Degree stand out is that they use Palatinose aka Isomaltulose as a sweetener. The benefit of that is that it is fully digested slower than most sweeteners so the energy from the “sugar” is spread out over a longer period of time. It also has a low glycemic index and supports fat oxidation. All of those sound like good things to me. They also sound like the things that would help them fight their way to the top of the sports drink empire. It's full of B vitamins and electrolytes, so it should be a full service sports drink. I will say that it has a decent taste to it as well. It has the familiar taste you would expect from such a drink but there's something else there as well. It has a slightly different texture than I expected. It's a little thick, but not in a corn syrup way. The raspberry flavor tastes artificial, but it's not offensive. To top it all off the taste of the stevia doesn't run rampant.
Do I think this will kick Gatorade out of top ranking? No, I think the company has been far to ingrained in American sports. I do think that if they had come out at the same time that the coolers wouldn't be orange or green anymore with a G on them.

Teaonic I Love My Gut
This little guy tasted pretty much as I expected it to. It tastes like it serves a more medicinal purpose than a pleasurable one. I'm not saying that it didn't have pleasant taste, but the rest of the ingredients play more of a role in the flavor than the tea does. In fact the tea aspect of it taste more like tea water than the nice strong brew that one expects from a bottled iced tea. The ingredients that make up the chia spice blend are the ones who are running this show. It's almost all cinnamon, ginger, and licorice.
This was made to help with stomach issues and digestion, but if the tea had been stronger I could see this being an instant favorite. Even without the strong tea taste it still left a delicious residue on my lips.

Gatorade Frost Arctic Blitz
I seemingly only drink Gatorade when I'm sick. Everyone except me is getting over a gnarly case of the 2016 GI bug. If it hasn't gotten you, it's gotten someone you know and it's a real sonofabitch. I'm just suffering from massive fatigue which is miles better than what everyone else has dealt with.
What does this taste like, though? I don't know. Mystery fruit? Does any Gatorade taste like anything? There might be some arbitrary melon in there but as far as anything I can pinpoint? Nope. "Fruit flavored" and that's as far and as much as I can do. Is it bad? Nope. It's not the best Gatorade I've ever had but it's far from the worst. This went down smooth and I'd like to think it gave me what plants crave, electrolytes. My body is fighting whatever atrocious virus the Western New York region is currently plagued with and I need whatever help I can get. Soup and Gatorade. Help!

Soylent Coffiest
Here I am sitting in my pod waiting for my morning rations to be distributed. Oh, here it is now. If you're reading this, then you're probably in the past. Sometime in the early 21st century I presume. You know how there's a bunch of horrible things going on in the world, but there is also a bunch of really rad stuff as well? Well the rad things just aren't enough and everything falls apart. There are wars, natural disasters and eventually civilization collapses. Small groups survive and meet up to form a new society. Since most of the food sources have been wiped out the scientists among us create these beverages to fill our dietary needs. It's important to keep a sense of humor in these dire times, so they named the drinks Soylent, after the old Charlton Heston movie, you know before he went all gun crazy.
The normal rations taste like soy milk, which is to be expected, but in the mornings we get a bit of a treat and get the Coffiest version of them. It's pretty much the same thing as the original, but with coffee added. It tastes like a nice soy latte. It's hard to argue with it when it's basically the only flavor we get these days. Along with that we get our nutrients as well as the same amount of caffeine that used to be found in a cup of coffee. Well, when you used to be able to find such a thing. At least it doesn't taste like diet poison with the sucralose they use.
The future is a horrible place. Enjoy the world while you still have it. Eat all the fruits and vegetables you can find, because in the not too distant future all you're going to taste is soy and coffee. Honestly it's not that bad and it could easily be much worse.

Soylent Drink
I've watched enough futuristic science fiction movies to know that Soylent is a sign that we are actually living in the beginning of a dystopian society. Soon the Singularity will occur and humans will become slaves to our robotic overlords. Fear not though all of our nutrition will comes in one convenient beverage, Soylent. To be fair the company hasn't quite cracked the code completely, but they are on their way. Each bottle of this ready-to-drink meal in a bottle provides 20% of the daily nutritional requirements that a human needs. This company is the future and it is the definition of efficiency in nutrition. Sure if they could get it down to pill form it would be the craziest thing ever, but as it stands right now this liquid has everything you need to survive and even helps with digestion, provides energy and does everything you need to function.
As for what efficiency tastes like, the answer is simply the soy milk that is left over after you eat a bowl of oat based cereal. I kind of expected something a little different, but in dystopia taste is not a concern, merely survival. It's not an offensive flavor, it just kind of bland, but in a way that does not concern you.
We are living in the future and things are only going to get more horrible in the world around us, but fear not Soylent has our backs and will make sure that we get the nutrients we need in the wasteland that is to come.

Qurb Dietary Supplement
Look, it finally started snowing and in two days from now the holiday season starts. That means that you are more than likely going to be eating a lot of garbage over the coming month or two. All of those active activities you participated in all summer that got you into somewhat okay shape are all going to be thrown out the window. You're going to pack the pounds back on and get squishy all over again. It's the unending cycle for those of us who live in parts of the world that have four seasons. I can't say if it really works or not, but Qurb is here to help. They are dietary supplement shots designed to help curb your appetite as well as promote weight loss. I can assume it's not a magical product and you also need to exercise in tandem with drinking them, but any help is good help in the war against holiday cookies and pies.
The power behind Qurb comes from a combination of green coffee beans and fiber, plus vitamins and minerals. The green coffee beans help to promote weight loss and the fiber help to curb our appetite. Essentially this is a healthier, more natural version of the diet pills that ran rampant in the 90s. One can only assume that it won't ruin your life like the pills did in Saved by the Bell.
I was shocked that this didn't taste as horrible as I expected it to. Most shot drinks are concentrated nonsense, but this has a somewhat decent flavor. It's almost vaguely citrus, with a vitamin taste to it. It's nothing you would want to sip on for pleasure, but it's not hard to get down either.
Brave that long winter and use these shots to help keep your cookie addiction in check. Come the nice weather you won't have to put in as much work to get back into the nearly healthy body that you've always wanted.

Nothing But Real Oat Chocolate & Protein
Here we have a protein drink that was developed not as a post workout beverage, but as a way to curb hunger. If it were part of some zany new diet it would be called a meal replacer. I like to just call it delicious. As the name suggests, everything in this bottle is completely natural with no GMOs or anything artificial. They also go as far as to make it dairy and soy free. In the late 90's when I first went vegetarian and a lot of friends were vegan we would have killed for something like this. I feel like we all existed on French fries and garbage house salads most of the time. It was an era of unhealthy compassion for animals. This would have made life so much easier. While I may not have had it then, I will certainly appreciate it now.
This is mostly made up of oats and pea protein, which doesn't sound all that appetizing. I mean does anyone actually enjoy peas, or do we all just kind of deal with them? The added cocoa and vanilla are both stronger flavors though, so we don't have to pretend me like their “country goodness and green pea-ness” as a fictitious Orson Welles once said. It has a great chocolate flavor that makes you forget that you could possibly be hungry. Perhaps I'll just go on a liquid diet. A wonderfully chocolate liquid diet.

Ginger Shots Kiwi Ginger
Holy burn.
I don't know who or what this is for but man this is hot. This is like, "this is going to hurt later" type hot. This is the hot that you are worried about when you eat Buffalo [slash] hot wings and then feel that "thing" in your stomach. I think ginger is supposed to make your stomach feel better so that might not happen. There is kiwi but it's so low in the mix that you can hardly tell it's there. Like a girl that dresses up for a party that like a thousand other people go to that it's just so congested she's wildly underappreciated. It's a little fruity, don't get me wrong, but I can't really tell that it was specifically kiwi.
You know what it is, though? Hot as balls, man. If this was a review for an eBay purchase, I would say "A+. Would drink again."

H2PRO Immune Health Flavorless
Do I love my guts? I think so. I eat yogurt. That's the epitome of loving and taking care of your guts? I feel like living in Buffalo I do my fair share of loving my guts by eating rotten cheese in the form of bleu cheese. Is that enough? Yogurt and bleu cheese? It's not? I've got to do more?! What kind of time do you think I have? Oh, a packet of stuff I can mix into a bottle of water? Great.
Wait...you said this was flavorless. It tastes the way melting plastic smells. That is quite flavorful, actually. I filled up a sixteen ounce bottle and took three giant chugs to finish it. Now my mouth is cold. It tasted like it was numb when I tasted it. Now it's just strange like I just swished with Stevia. Why would I do that? Swishing with sugar or a sugar-like substitute? Do I hate my teeth? No. I take good care of those puppies like I do, or thought I did, of my guts.
I might be getting stronger or at least more resistant to the outside forces with each sip of this and there are nutritional values like a ton of vitamin C and D but is it worth it? Probably. All that bleu cheese might be clogging my blood vessels and pores.

H2PRO Bone and Joint Health Flavorless
Apparently flavorless is code for this tastes the way a dentist office smells; sterile and chalky. It's all calcium citrate malate, malta dextrin, dimagnesium malate, silica and cholecalsiferal and no fun. At least it serves the purpose of helping with bone and joint health.

Karma Wellness Water Probiotics Apple Cinnamon
Without looking it up on the internet, someone tell me what percentage of American suffer from stomach/digestive issues. I'm not going to look it up but I'll throw a number out there. I'll say 72%. That's a lot of the population with problems, and those are problems that this beverage can help alleviate. This bottle is jam packed with probiotics, which are live bacteria and yeasts of the positive variety that do a bunch to make you feel better.
You grab this and think, “Oh good this is going to make my guts feel better.” Then you realize that it's an interactive drink and things are even better. You get to peel off the label from the top and then push all of the vitamins, minerals and probiotics that exist in powder form into the water waiting below. Then you shake it like a paint machine mixing up a gallon of paint that you bought to paint your fence, but it just sits there for far too long because you're procrastinating. Oh, is my real life seeping into this review? That will happen.
So this is fun, it is functional and on top of that it tastes good. I'm wary of apple cinnamon beverages that are not cider, because normally things just do not turn out the way you want them to. Karma has figured it out though. I don't know if it's because it stays in a powder form until right before you drink it, but this tastes so much like real cinnamon sprinkled onto dried apples that it's ridiculous. This is made with stevia as well as cane sugar, and I would have no idea that a zero calorie sweetener was in here if I hadn't read the label. It's mostly a light apple water with a heavy cinnamon overtone. It's great. I could see myself drinking this even if my guts didn't need the help that 72% of American need.

REBBL Super Herb Elixer Reishi Chocolate
This is a beverage that I feel would be sold at some ridiculous restaurant in Brooklyn. You know how they have a place that only serves cereal; this would be served at a chocolate milk bar. This would also be a top shelf item at said establishment. The well drinks would be Nestle and Milo and things of that ilk. As you moved up there would be slightly fancier drinks that were make from almond or soy milk. That top shelf though, that is reserved for only the fanciest of chocolate milks, that that is exactly what this is.
I'm glad I didn't look up what reishi was before I drank this, because “divine” or not, knowing that this was made with mushrooms would have probably tainted my experience. Not knowing I fully enjoyed it though. The base of this is coconut milk and it's even sweetened with coconut sugar. Luckily it doesn't taste toasted, and its flavor sits in the background. The chocolate taste is out of control in here. It's like someone just melted a high grade chocolate bar into the coconut milk. It's certainly more chocolate that anything else, and I could ask for nothing more. Also, no matter how much I shook this up it still had little clumps of chocolate in it. That would have kind of grossed me out normally, but when I squished them with my tongue I was reminded that this isn't some garbage chocolate they were using and all was forgiven.
Those reishi mushrooms may be in here to strengthen the immune system, improve mental clarity and relaxation as well as promote healthy liver function, but you would never know by the taste. It's just one of the best chocolate “milks” that I have ever tasted and all the benefits are just a bonus on top of the flavor.
Now what would the name of this chocolate milk bar be? Well if they were all vegan and wanted to go with a Lemonheads theme they could call it “Udderless.” That seems a bit niche though, even for a chocolate milk bar in Brooklyn. I'm sure I will think of something better before our imaginary grand opening.
