Glaceau Vitamin Water Defense
On a fluke, sometimes it's really nice in Buffalo. Contrary to popular belief, although it snows like the dickens...Dickens(?)...Who cares? Contrary to popular believe, although it snows like Charles Dickens, the grass and snow sometimes emerge and when they do at the same time, it can be a really nice day. When this blue moon happens, the city knows it and every one goes outside. I'm going to say that the crime rate drops to zero because even the gangsters are drinking lemonade or buying new slacks at local shops. Gunfights are an indoor activity and should not be wasted on nice days like today.
We went out today to Buffalo's one of two beaches which, if you live in suburbia, are smaller than your yard and one of them is landlocked. A novel attempt, but poor delivery and a poor use of my tax dollars, I should say. Regardless, we played in the sand, walked by some WWII battleships, and got some ice cream. It was a nice walk into the sun and it made me quite parched.
While waiting for ice cream, I picked up a Vitamin Water that we somehow didn't do. I was going to get the orange one, because I like it, but the raspberry apple sounded better and more quenching. I made the right choice. It was everything I wanted it to be and was very refreshing, very cold, and I wish I didn't have to share it because I'm home now and am still thirsty. It did actually taste like raspberry and apple and nothing else. It was really good and possibly my new fallback when it comes to Vitamin Water. That says a lot.
To cap the night, I'm sure that there will be drag races outside my window as there are on most night and maybe, just maybe, if I'm lucky, there will be prostitutes outside watching the races, soliciting the racers and passersby. Hey, a woman has to make a living. I won't call the cops on you, girls.

Greater Than All Natural Hydration Lemon Lime
It's a hard life being a nerdy football player. What's wrong with a 6' 4", 280-pound jock who also likes to play Magic: The Gathering? I'll tell you what's wrong with it, it cost me my Gatorade endorsement. I was at the regional semi finals and I brought my Gatorade water bottle with me because I like to stay hydrated when I'm fighting Shivan Dragons and Serra Angels. Well it just so happens that the head of Gatorade saw a picture of me on http://www.gatheringmagic.com drinking from my water bottle with my Magic cards in my other hand. Next thing I know, i get this call from my agent saying they're letting me go because "they don't like my off field activities". What am I? Michael Vick? It's a collectible card game, not dog fighting.
Anyways, my agent is in talks with this company Greater Than. He gave me a few bottles to try and I really like the stuff! It has a lot more flavor than Gatorade, plus it has coconut water in it so it has a really smooth after taste. The lemon-lime is my favorite so far because it's light, refreshing, but still flavorful. Hopefully they don't look down on people who play M:TG. I'd gladly drink from a Greater Than water bottle at the next tournament.

Hydrive Energy V Citrus Burst
Remember Tommy Lee Jones in Batman? Two Face. This drink is not so much villain as much as it is just two faced. It's half good and half less good. Initially it tastes like a diet Capri Sun or Sunny D. It's got a somewhat gritty, "Hey they put powdered vitamins in here!" taste to it. Then it tastes like Tang. I like Tang. I love quality drinks but part of me loves Tang and ain't nothing wrong with that. Oh, you've got something against Tang? You think because you're an adult you can't like Tang anymore? You would be wrong, good sir.
What is this? A review for Tang? Nope. Not anymore. This drink is like a Gatling gun in your favorite video game with a Gatling gun. Here's how they work. You've got to get it up to speed before the bullets start flying and once it's going, momentum keep it going to when you're done shooting dudes, it's still spinning and you can shoot quickly until it slows down. This drink is like that. You have to drink through the roughness but once you get past it, you can keep sipping and it's good. Once you stop for a minute, you know, so that you're not drinking anymore, you have to re-work yourself back up.

Greater Than All Natural Hydration Tropical
Take a really good Gatorade flavor and mix it with coconut water and you get this drink. I'm sure the company probably hates getting compared to Gatorade, but they were on the forefront of sports drinks, and their products are what comes to mind for most people when they think about said category of drinks.
Want to know a secret? I would pick this over a Gatorade any day. First off it's tastes great. Secondly it's all-natural and it's sweetened with beet sugar and not HFCS.
We can only hope that someday sports teams will have giant coolers filled with Greater Than to dump over their coaches when they win the big game. Gatorade has run that monopoly for way too long.

Omega Water Fruit Fusion
I find it really strange that in a post-apocalyptic world not many people actually died. I mean maybe 27% of the population is no longer with us, which is tragic, but from all of the comics I've read I would have expected it to be maybe a couple of thousand people left at the most. I guess all of the little amounts of radiation we used in microwaves and cell phones acted like a flu shot of sorts. The strangest thing is that most of the water has been destroyed. One company controls all of the pure water that is left in the world. They are called Omega Water. Sure there are some mutated waters roaming the countryside, but the radiation left them all carbonated and unrefreshing.
To be fair Omega Water isn't pure water like we remember it from the before time. The nuclear war left this water source chock full of water and minerals, including the ever elusive omega-3. I guess their name has two meanings...clever. I personally like this fruit version. It tastes like someone took a pestle and mortar to some children's vitamins and mixed in that fine powder with the water. It tastes like water with faint fruitiness. Fruitiness is now an acceptable word in these end times. Get used to it.

Odwalla Super Protein Mango Protein
My ladyfriend and I just went on a decent bike ride. The destination was a waterfall out in a park. When I was little my grandfather took me to the park to play, search for crayfish and to go fishing all the time. The waterfall and people jumping off of it always intrigued me, but then some people died. Since then it has been embedded in my mind that if I jumped I would die. It was so ingrained in my brain that even when I returned as an adult I was filled with a feeling of dread. I'm not one to shy away from cliff or waterfall jumping, but this was my exception.
We went there today just as a destination and some kids were jumping. I decided it was time that I actually faced my fear and I went for it. It was fun. It wasn't all that high, but getting to the jumping spot was a bit tricky. I jumped swam to shore victorious and then hopped on my bike and rode back. That's right waterfall, I beat you and then went home like it was no big deal.
Now I'm back at my place and I need some energy and replenishment. Odwalla sent us a couple bottles of their new flavor, and now seemed like as good a time as any to give it a try. The first thing I have to say is that bananas are one of the most potent flavors ever, and I don't like them. They cut through all most of the flavors in this drink. It was like a mango banana cocktail. It wasn't as horrible as it could be, but it was still noticeable. Also, because this is a protein drink it was pretty chalky. I have now finished the bottle and I really feel like I need to brush my teeth. There is a slight chalky film all over the inside of my mouth.
My story really had nothing to do with this drink, but I just wanted to rub it in that stupid waterfall's nose a little bit more. I'm alive. I win. You're just running water. You lose.

BodyArmor Super Drink Pomegranate Acai Green Tea
In my opinion, which is an opinion of a self-appointed, semi-professional drink reviewer, I have been on the fence about Body Armor. I know what they're doing and I know what they're going for, but something in their mix hasn't played well with my palate. They've got a real "health food" approach to juice. "It can be good and good for you" and all that jazz. I appreciate that, I really do.
As I have said on multiple occasions, acai is pretty gross. It is pretty bitter and always leaves a bad aftertaste. All the time, every time. I have liked it in some cases, but there is no in between. It's either really prominently bitey or not too bad and I'm impressed and think, "Hey, maybe I do like acai." but then I get a drink like this that has it in it and I hate it again.
Since I'm playing with fake ratios and percentages like a science teacher who accidentally made his way into an algebra class but stayed there because the superintendent was in the class sitting in and he didn't want to look like a total loser, I will continue on my way. This drink is 75% good. First sip, to swish, it's good. Real nice drinkability. You get some pomegranate in there, you like it. You get some other stuff in there, whatever that is, and you like that, too. Then you swallow because you can't just drink and drink and drink and not breathe. Do you think that Body Armor wants that on their hide? Nope-ahh. Suffocation? No. They don't. I will skip right on past their PR manager on that one and answer for the company with no need for their clearance. Then, when it's done and you've swallowed, thar she blows. Acai. Crap factory.
As a whole, this is a good drink. One rotten fruit will not hold me, or this company down. I would like to let the world know, that because a fruit is labeled as a "superfruit" does not mean you need to use it in everything. You know what's delicious? Cantaloupe. Use that in more drinks.

Muscle Milk Protein H2O Sugar Free Raspberry
It's been a long day at the gym. I'm a sweaty mess and I'm also exhausted. What can I say sometimes you just need to juice your pecs. Did you see me in there though? I was benching so much that it could have been a beached whale. No not that one that blew up all over some Asian city when they were trying to transport it. That was insane and disgusting. Why would you bring that up? Seriously, you're the "bar tender" at the gym juice bar. Is that you're opening line to make conversation with patrons? If so you really need to work on it.
So what would you recommend that I drink at a time like this? Muscle Milk? Sounds disgusting. You know that milk is basically blood and pus right? Ugh. Seriously are you trying to make me sick here? Is that how you get people to lose weight in this establishment? Oh they have a water version that is raspberry flavored? I guess I'll take one of those. Hmmm it tastes like a diet Vitamin Water with a little milk mixed in. This is really weird. It's basically water, juice and whey protein. Flavor-wise they either need to ditch the sucralose or the whey. Both are needed for their formula, so I guess it's what we're stuck with. I don't hate this, but I can't see drinking it every time I come to this gym. Wait...what? This isn't a gym? This is just the basement of a construction site? Then why are you serving drinks? Stop looking at me like I'm insane!

Glaceau Vitamin Water Essential
As one can see from reading our reviews, we often compare orange water beverages to Tang. What can we say? It's the original and Mike loves the stuff. He always had a huge container of the powder in his cupboard when we lived together. He also hated astronauts. It's really a worrisome thing. He walks around making this outrageous claims about how there's going to be a fist fight on the fateful day he runs into Neil Armstrong on the street. I really don't get it.
Regardless this does remind me of Tang. It's orange flavored and it's not too thick. It's an old standby in the Vitamin Water world.

Modjo Life Rejuvenation Matrix Grape Pomegranate
Here are two letters:
Dear Western New York Bike Route Maps,
You make it appear as if there are bike paths everywhere. You excite me and make me want to ride to new places. Yesterday I followed your path and rode to Niagara Falls. I need to tell you something very important. Roads with no shoulders that are completely falling apart with potholes larger than the state of Delaware are not bike routes. I thought I was going to flip over and die on several occasions.
Dear Bodegas of Niagara Falls,
Please step up your drink game. I went to several of you and you offered me nothing exciting. Just your everyday chain gas station drinks and generic overpriced soda. I was excited to find something new. I mean you didn't even carry Johnnie Ryan, which is literally made in your back yard. For shame. I ended up picking up a Modjo Life at a 711 in a small town outside of the city. I had rode my bike over 25 miles on a "bike path" that was in complete disrepair with nothing to quench my thirst. I was frazzled, exhausted and parched. This really hit the spot. It was like a grape Gatorade if it were made with real grape juice. So a juice/sports drink hybrid. At first I thought I couldn't taste the pomegranate, but then I remembered that it just tastes like concentrated grape juice to me, and all was well with the universe. This drink helped me to finish my ride home, and it did it in a tasty way.

BodyArmor Super Drink Strawberry Banana Guava
I had no idea this was 10% coconut water before I opened it. Judging by the taste, you'd think they'd want to put that in the flavor name. It has a strawberry-coconut-guava taste that is really good! I don't usually enjoy banana juices, but I was looking forward to trying this due to the banana. I was hoping it was going to be delicious and make me like banana drinks. Sadly, this was not the case because I didn't taste any banana in it. Replace the banana with coconut in the name and it would more accurately describe this flavor.

Clearly Canadian Daily Vitamin Tropical
When I was in Hawaii a few months back our hotel had a giant water dispenser in the front lobby. For the first two days I didn't bother with it because I thought it was just water and I had my water bottle with me. On the third day Kevyn made me try it. It was water that had various tropical fruits floating in it that flavored the liquid. It was absolutely perfect. It was only faintly flavored, so it was completely refreshing and tasty, basically exactly the right drink to sip on in paradise.
As soon as this hit my lips the flavor brought me right back to my vacation. It tastes exactly the same, except a little sweeter. This is what I want from a flavored water. Too many companies go overboard with their flavor and it looses the water aspect. There is no doubt with this that it is water first and flavor second. I appreciate that. Now I'm going to close my eyes and pretend I'm surfing again.

LIV Organic Lemon
I've been thinking about what I think about this drink for the last hour. I'm not sure because it's all over the place. It's really sweet and that I don't really like but that soon subsides and lets actual flavor through. The first flavor is that of a mediocre lemonade. Following that is a bit of a salty taste and that's because there is actual sea salt in it.
Now, I know what you're thinking. You are saying to yourself "Mike, what did you think of this strange drink?" and I will tell you. It's oddly not that bad. Yeah, sure, it's not the best of everything but it's pretty refreshing. If you drink it fast enough, it tastes like a lemon Gatorade. That's probably good right? Not to mention it's all natural ingredients. That's good right? Also, yeah, to start, everything is kind of "alright" but the more you drink, the more you realize, "Hey, this isn't that bad." and next thing you know, it's gone and you're like "Wait, when did this happen? I remember not liking this and now it's gone and I kind of want more."
Maybe one of the ingredients not labeled was mind control. Although I don't think that the FDA would approve that, a lot of companies get away with "Natural and Artificial Ingredients" and that seems a bit...vague.

Celsius Apple Orchard Blend
Something must have gone terribly awry at ye olde apple orchard. You see I have this can of Celsius fitness drink that was made from the harvest of the orchard and it tastes like the entire orchard was marinated in pesticides, or that it was stewing in napalm. Perhaps this is actually made from the soil of the orchard that old apples had rotted in to. No I think it's actually apples covered in napalm. You see this has only the faintest apple taste to it. I think that might even be a stretch. In a blind taste test I would never in a million years be able to pick out that this is supposed to be apple flavored. It literally tastes like poison, like I'm drinking some fluid that is supposed to go in a car, but someone has apple artificial sweetener to it. I can't believe I finished the can earlier. I just needed to keep up the energy so Mike and I could talk all night scheming of what our plan of attack would be if we ever made it on to the TV show "Take the Money and Run." I bet we could totally get away with it. We're crafty and being imprisoned for 48 hours doesn't scare us. We're strong willed. Oh yeah, we were also riding our bikes for several hours while we were discussing this. Now It's almost 4 hours later. I'm sore, I'm all hyped up, and I can still taste this poison on my tongue. For shame Celsius. You can do better than this.

LIV Organic Berry
Organic. Organic is good. No harmful pesticides or other garbage making it into your food/drinks. The thing that some people forget is organic doesn't mean it has to taste good.
When this is right out of the fridge and it's really, really cold it's fairly good. I tastes like a fruit punch flavored sports drink. You can tell their is something hidden underneath. Like sea monsters hiding in the murky depths of the seas, there is something unpleasant in this drink. You can barely make it out when it's really cold, but as it warms up it becomes more apparent until it's like someone proclaimed, "Release the Kraken!" Then there is nothing but sorrow for everyone.
I was confused as to what it could be since it's sweetened with agave, which I love, and it has actual juice in it. I've narrowed it down to brown rice syrup, sea salt and potassium citrate. One of those three has to be the culprit, which ruins a potentially decent beverage.
When this is right out of the fridge and it's really, really cold it's fairly good. I tastes like a fruit punch flavored sports drink. You can tell their is something hidden underneath. Greater Than All Natural Hydration Orange Mango
For far too long Gatorade ran the sports drink world with its syrupy fluids. Other contenders came along such as Powerade that really did not step up their game. The Vitamin Water came onto the scene. I don't know if it really counts, but I'm going to say it does. They didn't use HFCS so their drinks had a thinner consistency. Now Greater Than comes onto the scene. They are here to let the world know that sports drinks can be all natural and still be hydrating and refreshing.
To boil it down to me this is like coconut water mixed with Gatorade, but it's sweetened with beet sugar. At first it's kind of strange, but after two sips I got used to it and it was enjoyable. It really tastes like someone mixed a little classic orange Gatorade into a bottle of plain coconut water. I drank this after spending a couple of hours in my sweatbox of a print shop, and I definitely felt refreshed. I'll have to try it again after a long bike ride and see how it works.

Clearly Canadian Daily Vitamin Blueberry
You've got your flavored waters and you've got this. Hint does a nice job of putting a little bit of flavor into a lot of bit of water and making something both flavorful and pleasing. This drink does a good job of adding a little bit of flavor to a lot of bit of water and making it boring.
Initially it was alright. I thought it was going to be a nice drink but as soon as the temperature rose to room temperature, boredom sets in. It couldn't be blander, really.
I needed be bothered with writing a long, detailed review on this. It's not great and I don't recommend it to you. End of story. Blunt? Yep-ahh.

BodyArmor Super Drink Orange Mango Black and Green Tea
Sitting here all day...working...but waiting...waiting all of the day. Waiting for what? Waiting for a new computer for my work. I'm anxious because it's always fun to get a new computer. Setting up everything the way you want it and removing everything you don't is what's fun. I love it. A nice, speedy new machine is fantastic. Now it's twenty to four and FedEx still hasn't gotten here even though they said they were going to be here. They'd better not be a pile of liars or I'm going to be really upset.
As I wait, this last hour I have been milking this Body Armor drink. It's not bad at all. It's got a sincere citrus flavor. I would say more orange than mango and I couldn't really taste any tea in it but since it's so many (four) flavors, they all kind of blend together. I mean that in a good way, like when you've got V8 and you're like, "There is no way that all of these vegetables taste good at the same time blended up like this." Boy, are you proven wrong every single time.
So it's been ten minutes and the computer isn't here and now I'm out of this drink. Not my day.

Powerade Zero Mixed Berry
Oh Powerade, you fall into a weird subsection of my desire for drinks. I have never gone out of my way to buy a bottle of Powerade. That being said, I have never been unsatisfied by any flavor. I know some people say it's a weak Gatorade rip off, but it's what Coca-Cola is to Pepsi: a similar tasting competitor.
I thought their coloring choice of this "mixed berry" drink was interesting. When I look at Windex I don't EVER think of any berry, let alone a mixture of different ones. This doesn't have much flavor to it though. There's a slight raspberry taste, but it truly just tastes like "mixed berry" as generic as that may be. The good thing about it is there is no gross diet taste at all. Now that I know that, I might actually go out of my way to find more flavors in the Powerade Zero line of drinks.

BodyArmor Super Drink Tropical Mandarin
For as long as I hold this drink in my mouth without swallowing, it tastes exactly like I bit into a mandarin orange. I'm completely shocked with how authentic and natural it tastes, especially with the number of ingredients that are in here. As soon as you swallow the taste of the coconut water sets in. It's smooth and refreshing. This is great ice cold, but I can imagine it would taste like garbage if it were warm.
The label would have you believe that this is one of the healthiest drinks in existence. Who am I to argue? It is chock full of vitamins and minerals.
