Sioux City Birch Beer
This is by far my favorite brand of birch beer of all time. It makes me feel like a cowboy, or a member of the cavalry that's on the bottle. I never really know how to accurately describe birch beer. It's similar to root beer, but with different spices. It's just incredible. Sioux City also has such a distinct taste compared to other birch beers. Smack the dust off your hat, climb on your horse and ride across the prairie to the general store and grab yourself an icy bottle.

Cawy Watermelon
Look at that can. Isn't it just adorable? It's a fresh young boy just digging into some watermelon. Look at his two teeth just ready to fall out, and the big smile on his face. He loves it so much that he's never been happier. Then unfortunately you have the other version of the can here: OUCH! Wow! That is just terrible.
After getting over that racist can (which I don't know if they still make), here is a description. It smells and tastes just like a watermelon Jolly Rancher. Oddly it has an aftertaste of those Violets candies. It kind of tastes like a soapy old lady would in my imagination. Not a fan of the alternate can or the flavor at all.

Cawy Materva Yerba Mate Soda
I really like yerba mate, so I was really excited to try this. It fell way short of my expectations.
When I opened it, it smelled strangely like pineapple. To be clear, there is no pineapple in it. Then I realized it just tastes like a sweet pop, with a slight hint of tea.
It got worse, then better, then worse again as I kept drinking it. Not what I wanted out of this at all.

Fever-Tree Premium Ginger Beer
It's a deep burn! It's so deep! I can barely lift my right arm!
While Ron Burgundy wasn't drinking ginger beer in that scene, he probably would have said the same thing after drinking some of this. I knew i was in for a good ginger beer when there was a good amount of ginger settled to the bottom of the bottle. On top of that, the 2nd ingredient in this is ginger root, not ginger extract like a lot of ginger beer uses.
So like I said, this burn is strong, and lasts a long time. Even after you take a sip, you can still feel it burning inside your stomach. My lips are even a little tingly. This is definitely the most intense ginger beer I've had in a while. Even though the bottle is only 6.8 oz, it's hard to drink it in one sitting. It has a decent taste on top of the burn as well.
Now if you will excuse me, I have to drink a gallon of water to put out the fire in my stomach.

Bundaberg Ginger Beer
A friend of ours got this shipped over from Australia for us. I can't say how glad I am. This is one of the best ginger beers I've ever had. It doesn't have much of a burn, but it totally makes up for it in flavor. It's also carbonated with yeast, which is a nice change. It says to invert the bottle before opening to help mix in the pieces of ginger that are in it. You can see them when you hold it to the light, but they aren't big enough to notice while you drink it.
In addition it comes in a super rad bottle. The weird pull top cap is amazing. I like when beverages are fun like that.

Reed's Cherry Ginger Brew
I put off drinking this for a while because I was expecting it to be super sugary cherry pop with ginger in it, which sounds terrible. I should have known better and put more faith in Reeds. This is a really good ginger ale, made with real ginger root. It's just lightly flavored with cherry juice concentrate. It's not random sweetness labeled cherry at all. There's an ever so slight burn from the ginger, but nothing that would bother a normal drinker. Do yourself a favor and grab a bottle.

Hansen's Natural Cane Soda The Grove
Get on a plane and ride it to the Caribbean because that's where you will want to be after taking one sip of this stuff. I think that this would be best drunk at the coldest it can get before it freezes. A strange thing to say, I know, but mine is cold and I am loving it. It's a smorgasbord of fruit flavors and I can't really put my finger on any other than lemon and lime, but it's not a Sprite or 7Up by any means. It's very sweet, but very good. I could see myself buying this again without a doubt.
This is a limited edition flavor, which means if you see it get it. It taunts you when you put the drink to your mouth because it's very strong in the citrus department. You'll like it.
I don't know why my picture looks like I airbrushed it. Think of it as a 90's hair metal video. Everything had a soft edge on it and I don't know why.

Blue Sky Natural Soda Cream Soda
This is a damn fine can of cream soda! It's exactly how i like my cream soda: light and creamy. Since it's made with sugar (instead of high fructose corn syrup), it's not overloaded with a sugary taste. It may have been just my perception being off, but this can seemed to be carbonated way more than I'm used to. I was burping after the second sip. While it's not the best cream soda I've ever had, it's definitely in the top 10.

Romano's Italian Soda Marionberry Lemon
Even though I have an extreme hatred for Ray Romano, I still really enjoyed this beverage (which I assume he has absolutely nothing to do with).
It really tastes like something you would order in a coffee shop. I mean let's be honest coffee is disgusting, so why order that at a coffee shop, especially when you have bubbly fruity goodness to chose instead.
I learned something new today when I learned that marionberry is a type of blackberry and not just the former mayor of DC who was arrested for use and possession of crack cocaine. Yes, he still won future elections with the slogan "He May Not Be Perfect, But He's Perfect for D.C."

Hey Song Sarsaparilla
This is really weird. It's kind of like a normal sarsaparilla, but not quite. When it first hits your taste buds, it tastes like a budget root beer. Then a complete different flavor hits you. It has a "woodsy" flavor to it. It's kinda tastes like the root beer Mike and I made a few months ago, well before we carbonated it and it tasted like complete butt. I'm not a fan of the first flavor, but the second wave is pretty darn good.

Boylan's Lemon
At first, you think to yourself "Lemon pop? What's this all about?" and then you take a sip and realize, wait a second here, there is lime in this, too. It's good. Crisp. It's defiantly lemon and lime but different than Sprite and 7Up. It's a bit like the Pop Shoppe Sparkle Up pop we had a while back. It was nice. Not too sweet and not at all syrupy as it's made with cane sugar. This would make a great summertime pop.

Cawy Quinabeer
This is our 300th review. That's pretty crazy. I'm glad it's on a great drink like this as well.
I still have no idea what Quinabeer is. I expected it to be some sort of root or ginger beer. It was neither. What it is is incredible. At first it reminded me a lot of Cheerwine. Then a friend described it as a cherry cola, if cherry was the main flavor with just a splash of cola added. That is definitely a more accurate description. It also makes sense since both this and the Cawy Champ's Cola both have champion George Prince flexing on them. It's just great. It tastes like being a kid.
In addition to the flavor, how cool is the can? It looks like new old stock from the 70's. I love it. All of the Cawy drinks that I have seen have a similar feel. Pretty great.

Boylan's Orange Cream
This is a pretty standard orange cream soda. It tastes like a creamsicle. It doesn't have as strong of a vanilla flavoring as some other brands do. It's more of an orange pop with a little something extra thrown in, as opposed to a cream soda with a little orange in the mix. It's still a bit creamy, but just not overly vanilla.
The "orange" flavoring in this comes from mandarin and tangerine oils, so they got that going for them.
Don't get me wrong. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this drink. The problem is that after drinking the Virgil's Orange Creme Soda, I have a whole new level of expectations for this category.

Oogave Mandarin Key Lime
When I get a soda that is supposed to be fruit flavor, I expect it to be the dominating flavor. This, sadly, was not the case this time. I am a big fan of mandarin oranges and key lime flavored things, but this barely tasted like that. While the lime taste was there, it more tasted like a lemon lime soda with a hint of mandarin orange. It's not that it tasted bad (because it was good), it just wasn't as much of the mandarin key lime flavor that I expected it to have.

Goya Malta Original
I used to hate this stuff. Hate! With a fervor! Hate! Now I'm a little bit older and my palette that has been trained to have more distinguished tastes.
This tastes like raisin bran. Just like it except possibly more sweet. This was the original version that is made with cane sugar and honestly isn't as bad as I remember.
I would not drink it again but I am not giving it a bad review. Not my taste but it's a good drink. I'll admit it.

Nygarda Julmust
What's that middle taste? I can't figure it out. It's like a cola last. Maybe there is some grape in there but it's made from hops and barley, which makes the aroma. It's not bad but my mind is telling me it's alcoholic. Nothing on the bottle says that there is but it tastes a little like I remember old, crappy red wine to smell.
I don't know who I could recommend this to. Someone who loves red wine, pop, and can't drink at work, but really want to drink at work. You know, the perfect clientele.
I don't know if this is seasonal, either, because there is a little Santa-like gnome wearing mittens and is surrounded by packages.

Santa Cruz Organic Pomegranate Limeade
I had seen these around in four packs for quite awhile. I didn't pick it up though because I was afraid of a seltzer water flavor, and I didn't want to be stuck with 3 extra cans that I didn't like. I finally found single cans in a health food store in Toronto. I should have tried it a long time ago. It's pretty great with zero seltzer taste.
Is there a better flavor match up than pomegranate and lime? They compliment so well that they almost become an entirely new flavor altogether. It becomes hard to distinguish the original flavors separately. I really enjoyed this. It's lightly carbonated and it tastes like a dream.

Virgil's Black Cherry Cream Soda
Smooth.
Could you imagine if I left it at that, a one-word review? That's super lame so I will actually sell this drink to you. Let's start at the top. It's got a good black cherry taste like that of your standard black cherry pops, but less sweet and it had a very strong black cherry nose to it as opposed to the sugary, candy standard. Shortly after everything is rounded out quite rapidly by the cream soda. Creme soda? Whatever. By the time it goes down your throat, it's been coated by the creaminess and it just glides down.
Having never had any other black cherry cream soda, I can't compare it, but also, for that I give kudos to Virgil's for making a unique new product.

Reed's Ginger Ale
This is fairly strange. It's a ginger ale made with real ginger, so it has a very mild burn. You may be saying, "Well that's not strange." Well let me finish Captain Impatience. The weird part is that it's kind of fruity. It has lemon and lime in it. The fruit that stands out most is pineapple. It has an initial ginger flavor that fades into a fairly strong pineapple aftertaste. The fruitiness and honey in it make it way sweeter than I'm used to ginger ale being. It's not horrible, but it's just not what I'm looking for in this type of beverage.

Fizzy Lizzy Pineapple
You know how pineapple sometimes smells like vomit? Yeah this has that smell going on. If you can get over the smell, it's good. It's just sparkling water and pineapple juice. I wish it had a really strong pineapple taste, but it fades really quickly. I know Fizzy Lizzy's whole thing is that it's just fruit juice and sparkling water, which I normally love, but I wish there was just the tiniest bit of sugar added to this. I do love how the fruit sediment settles at the bottom of the bottle.
