Pacific Simply Mate Citrus Lychee
Sorry about having two Pacific drinks in a row. As many of you, my fridge at work has decided to quit so I am not left with many drinks. Due to this, and the fact that the North East United States is going to a deep freeze (-4 on my car's thermometer), I had "nature's fridge" which is essentially opening up a window, placing my drink on it, waiting, and then drinking an ice cold beverage. It might have been better than the fridge since in about two hours, this guy was cold as can be. It had actual frost and ice in it initially and it turned it into a Slushie®. Since I can't review a drink that is not in it's designated/requested physical state, I left it out for a while to kind of calm down.
Once calm, I took a drink. It's good. It doesn't have a gross taste, as many lychee related drinks have. It's wicked bitter, but that's mate for you. You get a little citrus to round it out. This has been my favorite mate from them as nicely blended and isn't slammed with too much flavor and not enough natural mate flavor or visa versa.

Pacific Simply Tea Peach
There are so many Pacific teas with so many similar tastes. When a company does something well, they should stick to what they know. Pacific knows how to make a really good lightly sweetened tea drink. My hat off to them. They use high quality green tea leaves. Brew it up. Add a little organic fruit juice. Throw in a dash of cane juice, and call it a day. It's mostly tea with just a hint of fruit. It's great and it's consistent. Although I have enjoyed every flavor I've tried, every time I'm about to try a new one I find myself hoping that the fruit flavor is just a little bit stronger than the last one. I should just be grateful that there is a great tea out there that's not full of obscene amounts of sugar. So Pacific, my teeth and health thank you. My dentist and doctor do not.

Kirkland Vita Rain Dragonfruit
Most variations of vitamin water taste the same to me: sweet, sugary, and somewhere between juice and water in the thickness. This is no exception. I bought it because I was thirsty, didn't have my water bottle with me, and didn't want to buy water. It definitely did the trick. I really like drinks with dragonfruit in them, so I wonder if I'd like the actual fruit. I should explore this sometime soon since most of my fruit intake comes from juice.

Turkey Hill Raspberry Tea
When you have an association with a drink, it's hard to get rid of it. Turkey Hill Raspberry iced tea reminds me of summer time in Buffalo, NY. I have drunk countless jugs of the sugary tea over the past 5 years. Naturally, this has given me a good perception of it.
Now I haven't lived in Buffalo for almost 2 years now. I also haven't had this flavor of Turkey Hill iced tea in over 2 years. I think my tolerance for very sugary iced tea is gone. This is just a sugar overload with a slight raspberry taste. As far as non-fancy iced teas go, this is decent. But in the grand scheme of the world of iced tea, this isn't that great and no bit of nostalgia will fix that.

Orgain Sweet Vanilla Bean
French vanilla. Is it any different than real vanilla? I mean really. Did they just call it that because vanilla started get a bad connotation with boring, plain, ordinary, et cetera? It's really not a big deal. Vanilla is vanilla. If you eat vanilla or French vanilla ice cream alone, it's really sad. Go buy some jimmies or sprinkles.
This drink tastes like vanilla (of any denomination) ice cream but a little thinner. It's still a thick drink, as most dietary supplements are. It's not terribly sweet and has a very adult flavor. There is just the right amount of sugar that allows me to discern between this and, say, a cream soda. It's like a good glass of just right sweetened tea.
This, being a meal replacement, is best sipped. I haven't eaten all day and it's five o'clock and I've been milking this guy for about an hour. Had I chugged or slammed this drink (your pick) I probably would have been hungry right after. Then I would have made a peanut butter and Nutella sandwich and when both of them hit me, I would have felt like Violet in "Candy For Me, Candy For Me: The Willy Wonka" story.
Wait, that's not what it's called?

Fruit 2 Day Cherry Grape
"Real Fruit Bits", eh? We'll see about...holy crow there are actually real fruit bits in here. They're huge. Each chunky bit is probably at least 1/8" by 1/4" so they are some of the largest chunks we've seen in Thirsty Dudes history. Better than chunks is that the flavor is just like real fruit. Why? Because it's made from real fruit, dummy. I'm kidding. Such disrespect. I'm sorry. Let me make it up to you. Cherry and grape together are a dynamic duo and you get both two of them guys wrestling around in your mouth, fighting the end boss, your tongue, for victory and they're pulling out all the stops by throwing giant chunks of real fruit at it.
So many references.
It's good and it's good for you. As the name says so eloquently, there is two servings of your daily desired/recommended fruit intake with the added benefit of having no additional sugar. Tell you wife, tell you kids, tell your husband, this stuff is good.

Juicy Juice Orange Tangerine
Juicy Juice the juice that all kids love...juice. Let me rephrase that, when I say all kids, I mean all kids but me. That is unless it's the orange tangerine flavor. I really should like all of their flavors because it's 100% juice. The problem is that it's not just the juice of the fruits listed in the flavor; it's a blend of a variety of different juices. Healthy? Yes. Tasty? Not so much. Fortunate for me, they finally got a blend of juices that is both healthy and tasty. Even though there are three different fruits listed above orange and tangerine it still tastes like its namesake. It's a good, cheap alternative to other all-natural juices.

Crave Strawberry Chocolate
Baby, I love you so much. You look great in that negligee that I got you on sale from Sears when I was waiting for my car to be serviced. Darn alternator is always acting up. You know, you've driven it. I think that Carl, the guy at the counter had it out for me because he gave me a look of hatred when I brought it the car...kind of like the look you're giving me now. Baby, what's up? I just wanted to tell you about my day before we...you know...rocked the sheets. You don't want to hear about the Pinto? Strange, anyhow, I thought that we could have some fun before we got down to business and I picked this up. You know how you're always thirsty after we're done? Oh wait; maybe that's me, anyhow. Cleaning up chocolate is a mess. It doesn't come out of anything. The last thing I want you to do is worry about cleaning at a time like this. Also, I know you like strawberries, but it's not really in season so I did the next best thing. I stopped at a gas station on the way home from work today and picked up a can of Crave strawberry chocolate milk that I thought we could share while we're, you know, doing it. I know, strawberry and chocolate. You know how you've had your eyes on a Prius, but this is like a delicious hybrid of its own.
Drink up, baby. I keep calling you baby to try and get you in the mood because you don't really look like you're in to it anymore. I don't really get it but give this a quick swig. It's not bad. It tastes like chocolate covered gummy strawberries. That's cool, right? Plus, it comes in this pretty awesome aluminum can so it keeps cold longer. Why are you turning the TV on, I thought we were going to...oh turn that back! I love Psych. Move over, you're taking up the whole bed.

Purity Organic Strawberry Paradise
You know that kid in school that seemingly was good at everything? Man, who wasn't annoyed by that kid? They could do, literally, everything. They were awesome at sports, got great grades, had a killer jaw line for a 4th grader, and had a way with teachers and ladies alike. Worst part is that they were awesome kids and you couldn't be mad at them because they were so nice. They just had everything going for them. Well imagine if that kid put his skills to good use and started a juice company. Yeah, that's the epitome of smarts in this scenario. That juice company would be called Purity Organics. Why? Because this company seems to have the Midas touch when it comes to drinks. They're all good, all of them.
Now, here at work, I work hard. At home, I play hard. I cover all bases. Something that doesn't work so hard here at the shop is the refrigerator because that joint is broke. Everything smells and I don't even know if anything is perishable in there. It looks like a college kid's fridge because there is nothing but drinks and condiments. No actual food. My drink was lukewarm and it still was good. Obviously it would be better iced, but what do I look like? A fridgeman? A man that fixes fridges? No, sir/ma'am.
This drink tastes like a strawberry lemonade. Kind of like the Made strawberry lemonade if you've had that. It's got a great lemon kick and leaves you with a nice natural strawberry taste. Nothing about this drink is bad unlike our work fridge where somehow even the mustard has gone bad.

Bolthouse Farms Perfectly Protein Vanilla Chai Tea
Bolthouse Farms is one hell of a company. I think I have tried all of their flavors, and there hasn't been a single one that I did not enjoy. The chai in this is present, but not overpowering like it is in some other beverages. It tastes vaguely like a chai latte. Due to the soymilk and spices in this, it also reminds me of a lite version of Silk Nog. The vanilla is pretty great as well. Another nice aspect of it is that it's not gritty like most protein drinks.

Evolution Organic Ginger Limeade
I've heard lots of good things Evolution's drinks, and I don't know why it has taken me this long to try one. I wish limeade were as prevalent as lemonade, because it's so much better in my eyes. This limeade is so refreshing, which is shocking given that it has ginger juice in it. Unlike other drinks featuring ginger, the ginger is a supporting flavor instead of the headliner. You get really nice tart limeade, and then just as the sip is going down your throat the ginger kicks in really nice.
I can't wait to try more by Evolution. I love that it's organic and has 4 ingredients: filtered water, organic lime juice, organic cane sugar, and organic ginger juice. More companies need to make simple yet delicious drinks.

Joe Tea Half Lemon Tea Half Lemonade
See that pickup truck over yonder? I want to be in that truck speeding down some old country roads, listening to music way too loud, while drinking this half and half. In this scenario will I be taking this truck off-roading to do some "muddin'?" Of course I will be. I'm a red blooded American aren't I?
I feel weird that I've been drinking a bunch of half and halfs and lemonades recently, because to me they are summer drinks. It is currently a snowy mess around our parts, so summer is a world away. Maybe I should just crank the heat to 90 degrees in my apartment, light some "freshly cut grass" scented candles, close my eyes and just pretend. While doing that, I don't think there is a better half and half I could drink. Joe's makes their beverage with real brewed tea, cane sugar and real lemon juice. It's as down home on the farm as you can get. A farm where there is a red pickup truck that has recently been covered in mud.

Snapple All Natural Raspberry
I know, I know. First we list 600+ reviews with no Snapple and then we've got three in a week. Well here's what happens...when you find something that used to be alright and then you discover that they changed their whole ingredient list and started doing things differently, they deserve another shot. I mean, they were early in the game of bottled tea and then once other cats got in the game, they were pushed aside. Now that they've stepped it up, and I mean really stepped it up, there's no stopping them.
This raspberry tea might be the best I've ever had. That says a lot. I've had tons of raspberry teas and this one tastes better. It's incredible what real sugar allows flavors to do. Artificial flavoring and sweetening disguises and distorts the real flavor of items. This is not bitter at all, even though there is green tea in it, but you can really taste the sweet, natural raspberry flavors come across like if you made it yourself.
This is saying a lot. If you wrote them off in the past, put your grudge aside and get a bottle of this.

Peace Tea Sweet Lemon
After my first impression with the Peace Tea Imported Ceylon Tea, I had kind of a sour taste in my mouth. It's not that it was bad, it just seemed...budget? I don't mean the entire company as a whole as I cannot comment just after drinking one other drink, but this tea left a lot to be desired.
Yes, it did taste like sweet lemon tea but it just tasted like the lemon flavored tea mix that you would buy literally anywhere. It's not a cost breakdown of "Oh, I can go to the store and buy a canister of mix and make 25 cans of this for the same price of 3 cans." either, because everyone knows you're not going to go to the store when you're thirsty, buy mix, buy water, buy a wooden spoon, and start doing science experiments in the back seat as your friend drives you to the mall to buy a new pair of Sketchers for some God knows reason.
Do you want sweet lemon tea in a hurry? Buy this drink. It's spot on. Do you want a seemingly endless supply of sweet lemon tea at work or at home? Buy a canister of the mix. You won't be able to tell the difference.

Snapple All Natural Peach Tea
Just like Mike, I had written off Snapple in favor of Arizona a long time ago. You just can't beat 99-cent tall boys of iced tea in the summer. But after getting wind that Snapple started using sugar instead of HFCS, I had to pick up a bottle.
While this is obviously not the best iced tea I've ever had, it's a step in the right direction for one of the biggest companies making iced tea. Once again I will echo Mike in saying that it tastes really clean. I didn't get that heavy aftertaste that comes with high fructose corn syrup, which was nice. The peach flavor is strong, but not too strong. I don't usually like eating peaches, but drinking this is making me crave one.

Skeleteens Fukola Cola
We're now at a cabin in the middle of the woods. There was snow much snow to shovel in order to even get into the cabin, it was ridiculous. I should have drunk this before I shoveled. Like all of the Skeleteens sodas, there is an obscene amount of caffeine in here. I bet it would have taken me two minutes to shovel it all. Cause you know caffeine gives you superpowers. You didn't know that? Wiki it, it's science.
This soda is originally from the mid-90s, and it obviously they marketed it towards the alternative culture. When I was younger I thought it was awesome, but now that I'm older it's pretty cheesy. I can overlook it though because it's an interesting cola. Since it's a Skeleteens it has a butt load of herbs in it, which always give their drinks a unique under flavor. The label says it has HFCS in it, but stamped on the bottle it says Real Cane Sugar. I think they are both wrong. To me it tastes like it was sweetened with pixie sticks. It's pretty awesome. It falls somewhere between an olde timey cola, like Fentimans, and a modern one, like RC.
If this was readily available all the time, I doubt I would get it very often. Since I had to special order it, if I ever saw it, I would probably buy a case.

Snapple All Natural Mint
Snapple is a classic. They used to be everywhere and then Arizona came out and, in my opinion, left Snapple in the dust. Maybe that's just for me, but aside from juice, that's all I remember Snapple contributing to my life. Mind you, this is back in like 1997 or so.
So all of a sudden, Snapple comes to their senses, drops artificial flavors and sugars and goes all natural. You can tell in this because it's very clean. Some people thought that it was a bit too toothpaste-like but I disagree. It actually smelled like mint more than it tasted like mint and I was fine with that.
I got this from a bodega across the street and there is more to get. Snapple is back in the running and I finally welcome them to Thirsty Dudes.

Bossa Nova Superfruit Mangosteen With Passionfruit
I've had my eye on the Bossa Nova drinks for a while. It's a little on the pricey side, so I showed some restraint. It's made from superfruits so the cost is to be expected. Today was the day of Bossa Nova. We're on the way to a friend's cabin for a wintry excursion, and I wanted a juice for the road. I chose well. This has such a strong passionfruit and guava taste. Those are two of my favorites, so I love it. It has a thickness to it like you come to expect from higher end juices. It also has a nice tanginess along with the sweetness.
This will hopefully give me the energy I need to fight off the serial killers, monsters and aliens that will inevitably attack us tonight. I think Mike and I will be able to take them. We're two strapping young scientists. Even without this drink they wouldn't stand a chance.

Vernor's Ginger Ale
If you don't live in the North East United States, you may have never heard of Vernor's. It's a ginger pop that's kind of in between a ginger ale and a ginger beer. It is barrel aged and you can taste it. It's not as woody as the Sprecher ginger ale I had last week but it might be because this drink doesn't have real sugar so some of their ingredients could be masked or distorted.
I remember this being different. I remember it being a bit harsher and woody/earthy tasting. I think it might be because while doing Thirsty Dudes, my taste buds have gone through a series of ringers. This drink just doesn't have the same flair that it used to. It kind of lives in ginger purgatory. I would like to taste a remix of this with real sugar so that I can taste the wood, ginger, and flavors.
I can't crap on this drink because it's indigenous to where I live. My people grew up on this as it is and it never changed and won't change. It's not bad and if you haven't had it, take a trip to the North East and get some. It's different.

Odwalla Superfood Berries GoMega
You know when you drink something and it feels like it's good for you? That is the feeling I get when I drink this. I'm not usually a big fan of smoothies, but this is really good. Even though it's supposed to be a berry drink, there is a strong pear taste to it after the initial strawberry/blackberry taste.
If I saw this at the store, I probably wouldn't have bought it because I'm don't have a strong taste for berry drinks. My friend Mary Liz came over to work on zines and surprised me with this delicious drink. I'm glad she did because it was really good and energized me though hours of cutting (but sadly no pasting yet).
